1. The color is not as much red as it is oxblood, like in a pair of shoes. Medium gloss. No hardware, e.g., brass buttons or corner guards. It is vinyl, not leather, but a decently sturdy grade of vinyl complete with cloth backing.2. The stitching, while not especially heavy, is neat and complete. Nothing undone, no loose ends.3. The padding is minimal but nicely firm. These are not plush by any means but that will help them keep their shape.4. The seats are oversize for a saddle stool. 20" by 14".5. The legs are dark but the grain shows through such that they look like wood, not painted or fake stained wood. In cabinet terms, a walnut. Will go with any dark wood except perhaps an oak, as well as anything black.6. Construction is above average for this price point. Mfg in VietNam, not China. Should last a good long while if not abused. The vinyl can be easily replaced by most any average DIY'er.7. Instructions are good. As they state, make sure the screw holes in the stretchers face upward when installing, down when fully assembled. The supplied allen wrench will work but a 3/16" hex drive socket and corresponding ratchet will speed things greatly. There is no screwdriver in the kit, I suggest a LONG (8-12") phillips with a medium to medium fine point as the increased leverage of the longer length will make the job dramatically easier. I'll go a bit further and suggest you a) lightly glue the ends of the stretchers before assembly with a high quality wood glue (cleaning up any excess immediately with a wet paper towel immediately upon completing assembly). The process I used was bolt in one leg, position the next but don't bolt it in, glue the stretcher and insert, bolt that leg, position the next, stretcher bolt tight. After all four legs are bolted in and the stretchers in place, then insert the screws. Snug up 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ... no the screws are not numbered, that's just my way of saying do them one at a time. Tighten in the same order. Then go back and tighten each one more time.8. One warning: Do not over-tighten any of the fasteners. It is much better to go back later and re-tighten than it is to crack a stretcher because you drove the screw too far in (easy to do, especially with that long screwdriver) or bow the cross brace (and weaken or destroy the dovetail joint holding it in place).9. One caveat: These sit right at 25" from the floor. I lowered mine by 4" so the supplied pic is not an accurate representation. If you want to lower yours, it is a simple matter of cutting off the legs and it probably goes without saying that doing so before installing them is much, much easier.10. P.S. The legs have plastic casters on the bottom. No idea how long they will last but they are thicker, more dense, and harder to pry out than most that I have seen.Bottom line, good for the money. That said, I wouldn't recommend these for young kids to wallow on every day of the year although teenagers would be okay. And, don't be thinking you are buying top quality, hand crafted, heirloom pieces. These are good, attractive, well put together, utilitarian pieces designed for occasional to moderate use.

These stools were the perfect fit for our counter. They fit nicely under the counter providing additional space versus our former ones with backs. They are also much larger allowing for a more comfortable fit. They are easy to assemble and solid. I added some furniture pads to replace the plastic ones provided, but that is a personal preference since we have hardwood floors. We've had for 3-months and are really satisfied and love the cleaner look and wider seating area.

These are truly beautiful and they look great in our game room. Very sturdy, comfortable, and a wide seat for plenty of sitting room. They were quick and easy to put together too. My only complaint is that they smell HORRIBLE—like chemical death smell. We had to leave them outside for days to get to the point that we could semi-comfortably breathe around them...

I had to use two different orders to make two useable chairs. The chair legs had the same part number making assembly of the second chair useless. Putting the chair back in the box after taking it apart complicated the return process. I am a bit shy to order another set in fear the same results will follow. The product is good. The experience outweighs the delight at this time. Time will get me over the fear.

I'm not sure if the other comments are referring to the same saddle chairs, but the shipment I got are amazing! It took me no time to assemble and I am more than happy about the quality!! The color is spot on and they are sturdy! I was not expecting the quality to be the best as the price is so reasonable, that is not the case. These also match my existing dining set so that is an added bonus!! Seller is also easy to contact and very quick to respond! I am very happy with this purchase!!

We bought 2 of these 2pc sets for our kitchen. All of the legs were brown even though we ordered black. Also the cushions were supposed to be black. We received 1 brown and 1 black in each set. Not 1 set of brown by mistake but one of each per set. If this wasn't bad enough 2 out of the 4 stools had at least 1 screw strip out because the female slot for the cross support was cut out too deep. They look fantastic but this service is not what I'd expect for a simple order.

I love the stool and it was exactly what I was looking for. I only gave it 3 stars because only 1 of the 2 stools could be assembled and used. It was a warehouse deal listed in good condition however a leg and some crossbars were missing for the second stool. I decided not to return the purchase because I actually only needed one stool and the price I paid was reasonable for a single one. The quality is great, the stool is very comfortable and it exactly matches the desk I have.
