A SERIOUSLY Legitimate Tourniquet Option
I have to tell you I was VERY skeptical of the Recon tourniquets when my dad told me about these. I had been researching different styles and going to buy the SOFT-T wide when he sent me the link for the Recon Medical Tourniquet. When I started researching Recon products I was skeptical. How good can it be for only $16? Gotta be a fake, right? I work in the medical field and know well there's a lot of cheap, knock-off crap out there. I have a low tolerance for garbage products whose failure could cost a life, especially because there are some sellers here on Amazon that sell under the guise of "quality products" when it clearly is not. My dad ordered what he THOUGHT was legit Recon stuff but, instead, was sold by some dude that probably got a bulk discount on knock-offs and sells them cheap out of his garage. It was NOT legit and had the resin (probably plastic) windlass instead of Recon's Aluminum version. Not only that but it SHIPPED from China (probably a clear sign to most but he's 82 so I cut him some slack and just listened to his rants afterward LOL) I read A LOT of reviews and after finding the review about the guy in Glacier Park who, along with some other strangers, used one of the Recon Medical Tourniquets to pull a lady out of a crevasse she'd fallen into, I was sold! Apparently they opened it up and she grabbed onto the end with the hole and they pulled her out. WHAT?? THAT is serious quality. I ordered 2 of these right after. The stitching is clean with no loose ends and the whole thing feels sturdy. It has Kevlar stitching for strength and the windlass is an aluminum tube. Yep, a tube. Round with a hollow center to reduce weight but still REALLY stout with a knurling for a really nice grip surface that will work great with bloody hands or gloves. I applied this thing to my arm and after about 2.5 turns I felt like my hand was going to pop off and there was no distal pulse. Perfect. These are truly an alternative to other offerings out there because these are really nice, well-made, legit quality products at a stellar price point! Thank you RECON MEDICAL! The pic on this listing also shows the Recon Medical Sheers. Yep, yet another great product. Wicked sharp and will cut a penny with no problem.

Really Great Tourniquet
I have used CAT and RAT tourniquets in the past. I have always been partial to the CAT style and this is very similar with what I think is a real improvement. The metal winlass is very strong and has a rough knurling that will really help with maintaining a firm grip with bloody/sweaty hands. The stitching is very nice and the material seems very strong. I tried this out on myself and was able to deploy it quickly and effectively. Great product. Hopefully, I will never need to use this tourniquet, but if needed, I would trust the Recon with my life and that of my family. I took my high school age son to a "Stop the Bleed' class that focused on tourniquets and compression. Now, my son carries a Recon (orange) in his backpack at school. I also carry one in my EDC Trauma Pack, in my Jeep and in my wife's car. At this price, get several and teach your family how to use them. The life you save may be your own. *********************************************************************************************************************************************** I rely on reviews when I make purchases so I put a lot of time into reviewing everything I buy on Amazon for personal and my business. This is the REAL DEAL
Although I am not an EMT or in the medical profession, I have taken 4 emergency medical classes and hold a 1 trauma certification and another first responder cert. I also have multiple Gen7 TQ's as well as previous generation TQ's (and other kinds of TQ's). I have had multiple instructors show, compare, and discuss the differences between TQ's, including the quality differences (especially the cheap imported ones),and also how each Generation has improved and why they are improved, etc. So I examined this one carefully (I ordered 1 in order to check it out first, before ordering more, and I WILL BE ordering more). This TQ is definitely the REAL DEAL. Excellent quality (with all the materials, in its construction = everything!) Don't hesitate if you are thinking of buying! Stay Safe and Stay Prepared (And if you don't have training yet = Get medical first-responder and trauma-training NOW. We live in a day and age where mass casualty events can happen at any time, either man-made, or multi vehicle, boat/plane/train travel accidents, or a number of possible natural disasters). Have the basic skills to be able to save yourself, your family, and save others.

Good value, great product
I have never had to use a tourniquet before nor have I had any training on how to use one, but since I have decide to conceal carry I felt that I needed to be just as prepared to save a life as I was to possibly take one. I practiced with this product and it was easy to use and seemed to be well made with quality material. I am very happy with my purchase and will purchase again when its time to.

Not cheap knock-offs; the real deal
When I'm working, I generally carry two tourniquets--one on my belt and one on my vest. On the one hand you don't want to cheap out with potentially life-saving gear, but on the other hand, if you find something that works as well as a more expensive version, why not save the money? I have compared the Recon Medical TQs directly with the pricier NAR CAT-T and although there may be slight differences they appear to be functionally the same. I have no doubt they would perform flawlessly in an emergency, and they are inexpensive enough that you can use one or more as training aids (as I have done with my young son). I have also added two to my "tactical man purse" and two to the trauma kits my wife and I carry in our cars--something I wouldn't have done if I had to pay a higher price. But hey, don't take my word for it. Gamble a couple of bucks and check one out for yourself. I think you'll be satisfied.
