Depends on what you are doing with the car.. I purchased this for installing splash guards on my car.. It worked PERFECT for that!! But I installed Official KIA splash guards on a kia car meaning the holes were already drilled.. I just needed this to unscrew the placeholders and screw the new screws on with the splash guard so I didn't need much torque or anything.. Worked great and fine!! Was able to install without taking wheel off

Q: How long is it from the back of the ratchet to the tip of the Phillips head? In other words, whats the smallest space it can fit into?

The size of the tool is listed on the description, it is 4'' long about 3/4" wide and just under 1/2" thick. it can fit in very small places, you just do not have a lot of ratching effect if you put it in a very small space. I have used mine working on aircraft and it has been very handy for me.

Q: Is it magnetic where the bits are inserted?

screw Bits are not held in by magnet like their smaller model that only ratchets screws. This product's screw bits are "sapped" in. I can not push the bits in hard enough with my hands. I needed to push the bit in with pliers until I heard the snap.
