Building Reading Comprehension Habits in Grades 6-12: A Toolkit of Classroom Activities, Second Edition

I rented this book for a grad school course. Although we ended up not using it as a part of the formal readings it turned out to be a fabulous resource and I've since purchased the text for classroom use. I've been a high school special education teacher for 8 years and love these ideas for use in the general education classroom and for sharing with content area teachers.

Mr. Zwiers has come up with some great reading activities for the classroom. They are easy to understand and modify. It is a great resource for teachers looking for ways to reach their students.

This book is a great resource for scientifically sound strategies for teaching reading. It is chock full of good chapters and an excellent resource for graphic organizers. The strategies and organizers have been ramped up to be relevant for teenage learners and teachers who expect students to arrive in their high school classrooms already knowing how to read, but who still need some direct instruction and specific strategies for being successful in school. THis resource would be helpful for typical, special ed, esl, all learners.
