Higgins Vita Garden Hamster & Gerbil Food, 2.5 Lbs, Large

Great hamster seed mix! My robo is a picky eater and historically has refused to eat some of the more nutritious bits from his seed mix. Since switching to this food, he eats almost everything in the mix, and the only bits he leaves behind now are the pieces of corn (which are just filler anyways) and sunflower seeds (which are more of a treat). He seems to love the rest of this mix! I'm so glad I've finally found a good quality, healthy seed mix for him that he actually enjoys eating. Keep in mind that this mix alone does not have enough protein for a hamster's complete diet and should be supplemented with a high-protein lab block like the Mazuri rat and mouse lab blocks.

The best hamster food there is. Of course you would need a protein pellet to go with it for the proper diet but I highly recommend this brand. It’s not full of treats so it’s actually healthy.

Our little DarthVader doesn’t like this food too much for some reason. It has a great variety/mix of seeds and food in it. This was recommended off a Hamster Reddit page so I tried it. Iv been mixing with his other food in hopes he eats some of it.

The bag is smaller than I was expecting but after going to petco/petsmart I realized that’s just how small hamster food bags are haha! My hamster really likes it. I put some lab blocks on top of his bowl and he completely ignored those and goes straight for the seed mix.

I would recommend this over Higgins Sunburst for dwarf hamsters as Sunburst contains fruit, and dwarfs are prone to diabetes so sugar should be limited. My hamster really likes this mix, though! I recommend mixing this in a 60%-40% ratio with Mazuri Rat & Mouse food blocks for Djungarian hamsters.

This was my hamsters favorite brand of food. She never had a problem with this food and decent amount of hamster food for the cost.

Good Quality

Great value for the size of the bag! This is one of the more affordable seed mixes recommended by hamster professionals. While it’s not as high quality as Bunny Nature Expert, and it does contain pellets (which I personally picked out), it’s still a decent option. The ingredients aren’t all-natural, and some unfamiliar terms might stand out on the label. There's still a good variety of seeds in the bag though which is good! No nasty smells or anything either, just a light seedy smell. :) My hamster wasn’t a big fan of this mix, and you’ll need to supplement it with extra protein like mealworms. That said, compared to other budget brands like Happy Hamsters, this mix is so so much better. I’d recommend it as a good quality, cost-effective option or as a backup if premium mixes aren’t accessible

This is a great mix recommend by lots of gerbil experts online. Our gerbil really seems to like it, and I'm happy to see it's not full of corn filler like a lot of cheaper mixes
