YOU NEED LIQUID CHALK MARKERS. This is very high quality, looks great, but it is NOT chalkboard texture. It won't work with chalk. It has to be liquid chalk pens or markers or whatever. But it works great with those and wipes off perfectly clean.

What a great price for what you get! It’s double-sided and chalk and chalk markers write so smoothly on it! Really good quality because it actually wipes away doesn’t get stained up like a lot of other chalk boards do. Also, Amazon had it delivered within a few hours, which is perfect because our little one starts T-K in a few days!

My old chalkboard for back to school was fading and it no longer looked nice. I went searching for a new back to school board and found this one. It was in my price range and looked cute. I had never used Chalk marker before, but I now love it. So easy to clean compared to regular chalk. The colors are vibrant too. I ordered the chalk marker separately on Amazon as they do not come with the board. The Timart Liquid Chalk Markers work really well with this board. I highly recommend this board for back to school and last day pics.
