As one of the only free acid versions, I can feel an absolute difference. I am 43, and I use this for its anti catabolic effect. I don't make it to exercise hardly ever, and I work a ton. It helps me sustain quite well what I naturally achieve, and helps with pain and recovery. Maybe this is your situation too. Also this goes on sale often enough to fit my budget. I'm one of those who usually can't afford the list price, so I am giving five stars in that they do sell it affordable for me often enough which I highly appreciate and hope they don't stop doing. It seems like they are studying the speed at which they sell at varying prices, and they may find the median. But HMB is amazing for older active folks like myself. I have tried other brands, especially when this price inflated late last year, but none worked as well. To me, Muscletech is a fair priced brand that delivers legitimate quality products. Now, I did use this also a few years back when I did work out waaaaay more often, and I remember vividly that I had substantially more gains when using HMB FA, whether before after or during; no difference. Seemingly it is more about the anti catabolic effects and the recovery, than it is about performance, which it will inadvertently affect by reason of the former. I hope my experience could be of some use.

First time trying out MuscleTech HMB in free acid form. I've previously tried HMB from ON which was recommended by a friend. I am definitely recovering better from the soreness and I am definitely feeling better to train the next day if I want to. Unlike before, where I struggled after pushing hard one day, I need more than a day to recover even with proper nutrition, hitting my macros, sleep and taking my ZMA. I am also doing a cut so this has been really helpful overall. For consumption, it is better to take this after food like carbs, otherwise it doesn't seem to sit well with a sensitive gut. Also note that taking it too late in the evening will keep u awake, atleast for me, that's what it did. I'm currently taking this twice a day. Morning and afternoon/ late afternoon. Update after my cut and using this product over 2 months. No side effects and minimal strength loss over my cut. I've been taking it even after my cut as it helps me to recover quickly when I'm building during maintenance. For women who encounter menstrual cramps and discomfort which results in the inability to train during their bleed. I personally find that this product helps to maintain muscle mass which makes it alot easier to come back to train after a week or more.

Works great - more energy, seems to help in going the extra mile, give that extra push beyond what you’ve done before in the weight room. Yes, it smells terrible when you open the jar, but it doesn’t translate to taste, and there’s no aftertaste or burps, so it’s better than fish oil pills or anything like that. Would recommend.
