Not sure why an elbow has to consist of 3 pieces? This does work, and actually feels reasonably solid, despite the fact that you don't slide your other pieces in very far. Seems a whole lot easier to just make a one piece elbow that accepts a standard 1" aluminum tube. I couldn't find one, so went for this. Takes a few tries to get things lined up and tightened in the proper sequence, to make a solid connection.

shinny plated aluminum zinc alloy that is fiddly and finicky to attach, set and adjust. Will not work with 1" extruded aluminum unless you can line it up just right and don't plan on ever taking it apart again.

This product works but it is a pain to install and does not leave a clean sealed finish. I used it on 1" square piping that we used to build a frame for our deck to hold awning tarps & bistro lights. As 2x4s are not actually 2" x 4" these do not fit 1"x1" metal extruded pipes. Hubby got them to work but I'm not happy with the overall look so we will look for an alternative to replace them. The aluminum chrome zinc finish is well done and should hold up well to marine conditions.
