Japanese Kanji for Beginners: (JLPT Levels N5 & N4) First Steps to Learn the Basic Japanese Characters [Includes Online Audio & Printable Flash Cards]

Bought few learn kanji books before but this one is the best fit. Not only provides helpful vocabulary with given kanji but also exercises and really good mnemonics/root explanation. All one needs for N5 and probably N4 too and it is not overwhelming like some others.

This has been my favorite book to practice kanji! I really enjoy the activities at the end of each section to help reinforce compound kanji and reading comprehension practices. Wish there was one for N3+!!

There are many kanji books, but this one is nicely done and very affordable: excellent value for the money. The 430 kanji signs are arranged thematically with many exercises and reading texts. Very useful material is on the CD-Rom, also available for download: flash cards, audio, reading passages. Highly recommended. This book is exactly what I was looked for: learning kanji. You don't need any kanji experience to get the best use out of it, but you should probably know Hiragana first. This book provides mnemonics to memorize kanji, space for writing practice, and also provides related vocabulary you can study. At the end of each section there are about three activities on what you just learned. My only complaint is that I wish there were more activities in utilizing the learned vocabulary.

This is the second book in the series we have purchased and we are very happy with both. They are great for learning Japanese characters and and their meanings as well as syntax.

Great material to practice the first or most used kanjis. if you started learning japanese, you can use this book. wont regret it. try after learning hiragana and katakana.

I love that a CD is included to help with pronunciation! I am going to Japan to see my son and daughter-in-law in the fall and they recommended this book because their Japanese instructor did! Learning Kanji reminds me of when I was in school and me and my friends had a secret code. Once you understand the meanings it becomes clearer as you go on.

This is the best book I have found for learning kanji. The lessons use real life, practical examples which help you to memorise the kanji very effectively. The CD-Rom (the contents of which can also be downloaded from the publisher website) are very helpful and add even more value to your purchase. Highly recommended!

Pour peu que vous soyez à l’aise avec la langue anglaise, je ne peux que vous recommander cet excellent ouvrage qui m’aide énormément dans mon apprentissage des kanjis. Contenu : -Très bonne introduction à l’apprentissage des kanjis -44 leçons présentant de façon claire et détaillée 1o kanjis chaque fois, en tout 430 kanji : les 80 nécessaires pour le JLPT 5, les 165 de plus pour le JLPT 4 et plus encore. Des grilles sont prévues pour chaque kanji pour s’exercer à les écrire. -Après chaque leçon une double page révision/exercices variés, ce qui est motivant car on peut tout de suite appliquer ses nouvelles connaissances dans différents contextes. -Un glossaire anglo-japonais à la fin Et en plus : Un CD avec des questions à choix multiples pour les kanjis de chaque chapitre et des flash cards à imprimer.

The book has a very good way of allowing students to not only practice writing, but providing mnemonics which can aid in the memory of a given character. They also provide the pronunciation and different uses per each character, and you're encouraged to memorise those which would most convene you. I'd argue that this book would teach you roughly all the most important characters you'd need to know to get around, or just get a foot in the Japanese language. Whether you're learning it for the sake of learning a language, or you like Japanese media, you do business in Japan/with Japanese people, or want/going to live there, this book will help you learn the characters.

Hace meses compre este libro y decidí esperar un poco para dar una opinión ya que necesitaba avanzar en el. En lo personal el libro es muy bueno pero no considero que sea para principiantes totalmente, podría ser principiantes en KANJI pero con algunos conocimientos (aunque sea un poco) previos del idioma. Me ha ayudado a entender mejor la escritura y tengo un poco de mas vocabulario. El libro viene en ingles pero no necesitas ser un experto en ese idioma para entenderlo. El espacio que viene para practicar es muy pequeño pero no importa, yo uso una libreta aparte para mis practicas. Después de cada lección vienes ejercicios sencillos para reforzar lo previamente aprendido. Me encanto y en mi opinión me es muy útil.
