Levi's Women's Petite 512 Straight Leg Jean

I have roamed around department stores - Dillards, Macys, JCP, and Sears - searching for a pair of Levi's jeans that would fit me. It is exasperating to keep trying on Levi's that are either too skinny, long, or have very low rise. I am only 4'11" weighing 98 lbs. and have a very difficult time finding jeans or pants that would fit my petite stature. I was skeptical about ordering these in 2P Medium rise because in department stores, some of the Levi's 5 Short jeasns were either too tight at the waistline or the inseam was too long for me. Was I pleasantly surprised when I tried these jeans on - they are awesome! Everything about it - inseam, waistline, leg circumference, and hips - is fantastic. The only thing I can think of that could be enhanced is the depth of the front pockets - they could have been deeper like they used to make the early 501's. Other than that, these jeans are going to be my favorite for those casual days in work. I will order another pair of these soon.To you petite ladies out there, like me, I highly recommend these jeans. This style jean fits me better than any other. I'm short and take a 4 or 6, and I like having pant-legs that are not as wide across as they are in a pair ten sizes larger, which is usually the case. I have a couple pairs of these from a couple years ago, so I ordered these when I found them. HOWEVER. Rather than 99% cotton and 1% elastane, like my others and like the ad, these are about 15% polyester, 2% elastane, plus the cotton. The fabric doesn't feel like denim because of this. Polyester denim? These are also a little bigger than my other 6s, though I'll keep them, and these have heavy, thick, blaring contrast decorative stitching on the rear pockets and over the key pocket, which I didn't notice in the photos. These natural waist jeans obviously aren't designed for teens or pre-teens, so I don't understand why they had to be so heavily messed up with decoration that tells the world you want everyone to please look at your buttocks.

It's hard to know how a straight leg "slim fit" will actually look until you try them on. These are just what I was looking for--not too slim and not too wide. They are well proportioned for the petite gal. I miss the option of a dark wash and lighter washes that aren't whiskered and worn. Levis last a long time and I like the "wear" to come naturally over time. These have a light whiskering so not too bad. The rise fits me just right and the waist doesn't pull down in the back when sitting. Hope to have these for a long time and will be buying more.

After going through a couple of returns, I can tell you, the sizing of this jeans is very inconsistent. The first ones I got were tight even though they were my size and I've had the exact same brand/model/size before, so I returned them and got a size bigger thinking they were running small. I had those replaced because they came very obviously used before (Amazon was great at handling this, btw) even though the size now felt right. The ones I got as replacement after that with the same bigger-than-normal size now felt tight again exactly like the first ones that were a size smaller. I'm keeping this and I am just hoping they don't shrink because they fit ok right now, but I'll have to be extra careful washing them.

This review is incomplete because I couldn't really get this pair of jeans on me. I generally buy jeans in 4 petites but this pair was way too small. I exchanged for the next larger size but, unfortunately, the material around the hips was cut a little too big. So, instead of fitting nicely over my derriere, there were all these creases which did not make for a well fitted pair of jeans. But it was a good grade of denim. Be aware that the real color of these jeans is actually lighter than what is shown on the website. I thought I was getting a pair of fairly dark jeans. They are actually more like denim blue.

I tried these jeans on very skeptically, truly believing they were going to be returned. Loved the way they looked, but looked so very small. I have lost a lot of weight lately and 8 seemed to be my size now, but these looked tiny. I put them on, zipped them up and buttoned the button and they were wonderful! Everything about them was perfect - length, how they made my legs look longer, the color, everything. They do have stretch, which seems to have memory and does not stretch out after all day wearing. The waist stays close, with no gap. AND, they are still the same great fitting jeans after washing. I will find myself ordering more of these Levis in the future - love Levis and love these jeans!

If you normally order regular size, order a size up because this petite sizing (as it should) is smaller on the waist, etc. than regular sizing. I wear 8 Short in regular Levi's and 10 petite regular is a perfect fit for me. I'm 5'4" with not very long legs so I'm on the borderline- I either buy regular shorts (30") or petite regular (29") to avoid hemming for flip flops and sneakers, and go for the regular (32") for heels. I ordered hammered dark and it's a gorgeous dark, deep, and solid indigo I've been looking for. I have a large hip, full thighs and a thin ankle so I usually opt for the boot cut which makes me less self-conscious, but these straight leg jeans flatter me. I wish these came in more colors!

These petite sized jeans run small and short. I usually wear an 8 therefore I ordered my size. I read from reviewers that the length would be fine, but it is not. They are indeed too short and actually run small as well. There was one reviewer who said you should go up one size. I would follow that recommendation, however, if you are a borderline petite (like me, 5'4") then do not bother ordering in petite sizing. They will be too short.
