Q: what is the adjustment range?

Hello, the headphone clamps on to desk up to 50mm thick and as narrow as 5mm for a near universal fit on most desks

Q: how much weight can this hold?

It's only cast metal; it will easily hold a set of headphones, or even two, but I don't think I'd put more than a kilo or so on it. The hinge simply isn't designed to hold that much weight. If you need to put something really heavy on your desk, I'd look for a sturdier hook from a hardware store.

Q: Is the turning knob knurled metal as well? I noticed that in a few of the pictures that tightening knob was plastic

Yes it is in my opinion high quality plastic. It does not feel cheap or fragile to me. I have three of these in use. One at home and two at church in our sound booth. All been in use for many months with no issues - and the ones in the sound booth have ben moved and adjusted several times by different members, no issues.

Q: My desk is a little under .75 inches thick, so this won't work?

It should work fine. If you need to, cut out a couple of squares of cardboard from the Amazon box and place them under the foot.
