ABA/AARP Get the Most Out of Retirement: Checklist for Happiness, Health, Purpose and Financial Security

As I approach retirement, I have been looking for books to help me get there successfully. Most talk about what you need financially to retire, but her approach is the full package of getting you to think about what you want to do in retirement, what you feel are your strong points. Making sure you have everything in order in case something goes wrong and your kids need to take care of wrapping things up. Just leafing through it the first time, I thought this might be the only book I need to keep handy and read.

The most helpful is the checklists that helped me tremendously in organizing my papers and documents and even give power to give power and structures which I have been found wanting. A follow up book that will be helpful to me will be for us American citizens who was to retire permanently in foreign countries about obligations to the US government in regard to income taxes, access to social securities, pension funds, health insurance etc.

This book did not provide the guidance I had anticipated, but rather a format to organize my own search of information. I have not "found the time" to make the search and fill in the pages. I would have been happier with an on-line version to type in the data if I was to do a work book.I had to wait over 3-4 weeks to have this book come available and arrive, so by then I was on to another project....

I really can not review this as I bought it as a gift, not yet given, for someone who is 10 months from retirement. I gave it 5 stars because I am hoping that it is a 5 star gift!

This is really a good overview of what to consider in connection with a decision to retire. It has great checklists and is a great "how to" overview.

This is a handy reference guide book for anyone who wants to gain insight about navigating through retirement and some of the conversations we really didn't want to approach in our earlier years. It really can wake you up and get you moving.
