I'm very handy with my hands and have the tools . Would it be feasible to install this flush with my hitting mat ?

I had an older golf mat that I wasn't using because I bought a better quality mat. I used a utility knife and using the board as a template, I cut around it and the divot board sits flush with the top of the mat. I wouldn't do it with an expensive quality mat but this worked great for me.

Can the mat be used on hard surfaces such as wood or laminate floors?

I would not use the divot board on wood or laminate floors as the grip knobs on the bottom may mark the floors./

Whats the thickness of the complete unit and the thickness of the replacement mat ?

Total thinkness is about 0.5 in with the replacement pad sitting inside the outer mat. The replacement mat is about 0.25 in.
