This is the absolutely BEST TASTING wild rice
We've been fans of wild rice for decades and have tried at least a dozen different brands grown across North America. Of all the variations of wild rice we've eaten, this brand cooks the most consistently, needs no broth or seasoning except a little salt, and does not have a bitter, metallic, fishy, or woody flavor that we often get with wild rice. It just tastes clean, slightly nutty, and delicious. Try this brand. And cook your first batch with only water and a little salt and you'll see what I mean. And yes, we have tried a LOT of wild rice brands over the years: - Some were cultivated & some were harvested wild. (Cultivated wild rice is an oxymoron, tee hee.) - Some were sold by tribal wild rice companies, some were sold by corporate food manufacturers. - Some were 100% wild rice, some were wild rice blends. Wild rice has been a staple in the diets of native Americans around the Great Lakes, particularly in MN & WI. This wild rice is harvested by Ojibwe tribal members of the Red Lake Nation in northern Minnesota, grown in the same rice beds that have fed their families and ancestors for generations. A lot of love and respect for the plant and planet goes into their process. And when you buy most commercial brands that are widely available, your money goes to nameless shareholders of some giant corporation in a state where wild rice is not a native plant. But when you buy this one, along with a tasty food, you also get the satisfaction of knowing your money goes to help real people in an economically disadvantaged region who have been discriminated against for more than 100 years. Maybe I'm biased, or maybe food tastes better when you consider the whole story behind the food. Anyway, this is the wild rice you're looking for.

Delicious and Healthy
I like this product because it tastes delicious. Wild rice was a winter staple in our family growing up. Its good all by itself, or in soups, as a Thanksgiving side dish with a bit of roasted almonds, butter, garlic, onions, the options are really endless. Use it for cold chicken salads in the summer. I cook mine longer and usually with chicken stock or veggie stock. I always add salt and pepper to taste. This is a versitile food, and I do recommend it. I am a huge supporter of buying with purpose if possible. I know that this is cultivated and harvested in MN, it goes to help sustain the Red Lake Community. It is really a favorite food of mine.

Excellent wild rice and commendable seller.
While wild rice from anywhere is expensive, this fat pound of rice is a good deal. I mix it with brown rice and other grains, cook it in broth and seasonings, and it is superb. No white paste rice in this house and you shouldn't eat it, either. Wild rice is full of minerals. There was a shipping knot with the seller and USPS, but the seller is a real pro. Took responsibility and smoothed it out to my utmost satisfaction. We need to support these small home based businesses especially now, and this is a good place to do just that.

Delicious
This product arrived on time. We wanted to highlight a Native American food during Thanksgiving, so we introduced our guests to Native American Wild Rice (which is actually a grass). This was delicious and easy to prepare in a rice cooker. Be sure to follow the measurements.

Wow! Sooooooo good!
This rice is amazing! I cooked in rice cooker with 4:1 ratio water to rice. It is soft and has great flavor. I added onion, mushrooms, celery, veggie bullion, and lemon time to pan and then added rice. I like the recipe booklet that comes with it. I wish it was a little bit less expensive, but it does support Native American business. Be patient. It does need to cook for a long time.

Makes some great wild rice soup
Takes a long time to cook but has a great texture for soup! I put it in the broth with veggies for a few hours until they burst so they're soft inside and still a little crunchy outside. It came fast, was packaged fine, and I like that it's a native owned company (found they do have their own website you can order directly from too)

Bad presentation of wild rice on Amazon Web and damaged to top that
This item is misleading. The picture on the Web looks like you're getting a big bad of rice but its only a cup of rice. For the money you can get a bigger bag at eBay or at specialty stores. A better picture to put on Amazon web would be the one I took. And to top this off there was a slit on the bag which I think is unsanitary and can't be consumed. I tried to return the item but it's not letting me do that. Help.
