GOODBYE ZIPLOCK AND HELLO NESCO
Now THIS is a great machine! I opened it up, plugged it in, had my ribeyes ready to seal, put the roll in - and it worked flawlessly in two minutes! Definitely worth every penny! Does exactly as promised! Perfect size, but not too big! Incredibly easy to use! It sealed in the freshness of 6 ribeyes in 10 minutes! I would definitely recommend this unit for sure! I’m extremely happy with how easy it is to use and I am totally done with plastic bags that leach microplastic into your meats!

It works and I like the wide seal that it makes
This item came as one of the best food vacuum sealers so I purchased it and I’m pretty happy with it. It is a little bit large compared to some of the other ones that are on the market today, but it works in. The price is pretty reasonable.

Great gift for meal preppers and absentee home owners
Bought this as a gift for my partner. He travels a lot and often just throws food in the freezer in hopes it will stay fresh. This vacuum sealer has solved a lot of his woes, both in terms of food freshness in the freezer and in terms of saving space in a not-so-big freezer. It's very easy to use and works great.

Works great for most things
I like this up to a point. It has worked great for various raw meats, stews, carnitas, etc. All good. Pretty easy to use and good suction - in fact, too good, as where this device fails is with soft items like bread. Even on the low-suction setting four nice buns were reduced to crumpled dough balls. They did not snap back. Will use the pulse thing to do bread next time.

Recommended--I give it my "seal" of approval!
I've had two or three FoodSaver vacuum sealers over the years, but when my last one died, I considered buying a Nesco model—especially when I saw the prices on FoodSavers. I do own other Nesco products, so it didn't seem like a gamble. This Nesco Deluxe Food VS-12 sealer seemed to have all the features I wanted, and at a much better price point, so I pulled the trigger and made the purchase. I would say the build quality is better than my previous FoodSaver models. It appears to be very sturdy, yet fairly compact. When you're ready to seal, it locks very securely with the handle (Nesco instructs you not to store it with the handle in the locked position, to avoid deforming the gasket). I found the lock to be better than FoodSaver's. There is storage for a roll of bags, and the built-in cutter operates easily. In the rear of the machine there are tabs to wrap the cord around when storing. You have your choice of variable settings: dry/moist/double seal and normal or gentle pressure. And there are several modes: Vacuum and Seal, Manual Seal, Cannister, Marinade, and a Pulse function. Although it does not come with an accessory hose for cannisters (you can order one), the one I kept from my previous FoodSaver is compatible and works just fine. I have had no problems getting bags to seal. I really like the digital display that counts down as your contents are vacuumed and sealed. All brands of vacuum seal bags seem to be compatible, as are other brands of storage cannisters. The drip tray is not removeable like the FoodSaver models are, but is easy to wipe clean. I hunt, and I seal and freeze game that I've processed, portioning jerky, etc.. I also use it for cooking meat using the sous vide method. Great for marinating and for storing food in cannisters. Also useful for protecting non-food items, such as Sterling silver, from oxidizing and tarnishing. I've even sealed and stored a heavy wool shirt using large pleated bags in order to keep moths from getting to it. My only minor complaint is that it did not include an accessory hose. Other than that, I am extremely satisfied with the quality, the function, and of course, the value. I'm glad I purchased the Nesco model, and I definitely recommend it.

I was wrong, I thought it as slow. But I LOVE THIS Nesco VS-12.
(wrote this review over a span of a few hours while working. Hope it makes sense) I bought this Nesco after seeing so many reviews from companies picking this over the FoodSaver. I have been using FoodSaver for about 8 years, and I've gone through 3 different models, all top of the line models (at the time of purchase). I was ready to find something else that could be better and have a tight seal I ordered the VS-12 and set it up. It was smaller than the models of FS I had prior. I read and saw many people using the DOUBLE SEAL, and I started off using only the double seal. You couldn't go wrong double sealing anything. However, it was slow. VERY SLOW. SO slow, I thought there was a problem with the machine. Amazon sent me a replacement. Same "PROBLEM". What I didn't like about the FS was the amount of time it took to do the first seal on multiple bags. I hated that blink light when you insert the bag too early. However, doing the double seal on the Nesco was MUCH longer, I timed it, about 32-33 seconds from the time right after I sealed one to the time it will start sealing the next bag. I was frustrated and was going to return this Nesco. I just couldn't understand why there weren't reviews on how SLOW this machine is. I searched reviews with the word SLOW and found very few reviews. THEN A LIGHT BULB WENT OFF! The Foodsaver seals with a single line. I need to see how the single seal works with the Nesco to really compare apple to apple. Thus, I started using it in NORMAL mode. I was blown away at how tight the seal line was, and on top of that, how FAST it performed. I did NOT need to use the double seal feature. It is freaking nice to be able to do it if and when I want to do a double seal, but I do not see the need to go to that "extreme". Yes, it will be much slower, but you should expect that. The main thing is, in normal mode, this Nesco VS-12 will best everything the 3 FoodSavers I had could have done. I really do not see the need for a double seal as when you actually feel the seal line, it really is completely sealed up. BUT, it is definitely a very good feature to have if you are freezing A5 meat (HAHA). The only thing I wish they will change is the "locked"position of the locking handle. I wish they'd make it higher up instad of where it is. Why? Because sometimes I cut too small of a bag, and I try to squeeze in, and the item will jam into the handle and kinda pushes it upwards, which could unlock or lighten the seal. But, overall, I find the Nesco VS-12 to be a solid vacuum sealer. Just seeing the seal line alone, you can see how solid of a seal it is. I've had problems of the Foodsaver seal coming apart (leaking air IN) overtime in the freezer. I will update this review if I have that problem with the Nesco.

I’ve been using the Nesco VS-12 for meal prep, and it has completely upgraded my routine. The suction power is strong and consistent, and I like that it gives you a few different sealing options (dry/moist, normal/gentle). It makes it really easy to seal everything from raw meats to cooked leftovers without worrying about leaks or failed seals. The viewing lid is surprisingly handy, you can actually see where the bag is placed so you don’t waste material. The included starter bags were good quality, and the built-in bag cutter is a nice touch that keeps everything clean and sized properly. It’s compact enough to leave on the counter but still feels solid and well-built. After sealing a week’s worth of meals, every bag stayed airtight in the freezer with no issues. If you're doing meal prep or bulk cooking, this thing is a game changer. Strong 5/5.

Waste of money doesn't conform to uk standards due to American plug and wattage. Costs you between £50 and £60 pounds to send back due to amazon telling you to send it direct to supplier. DO NOT BUY.

I bought this vacuum sealer because I was fed up with cheaper machines failing me, and this one really impressed. It feels really sturdy and works exactly as I need it to. The fact that it has space inside to store the bag roll is a nice bonus — makes it neater and more convenient. What I like: - The build is solid: no flimsy parts, it gives me confidence it’ll last. - Good value for the price — you get a strong performing machine without paying over-the-top. - The built-in storage for the bag roll is a thoughtful touch — keeps everything together. - It handles a variety of uses in my kitchen smoothly. One minor thing to watch: - When using the automatic mode with liquid-rich foods, it’s too strong (i.e., the suction or seal may cause a mess). I found that switching to the manual mode for liquids works much better. - That said, the automatic mode is fine for dry items or standard sealing jobs. Verdict: If you’re looking for a vacuum sealer that’s built tough, offers smart features (like internal roll storage), and gives you solid performance — this one ticks the boxes. I’m giving it 5 stars because it consistently delivers what I need.
