Tortoiseshell Cats. an Informative Guide to Tortoiseshell Cats and Their Famous 'Tortitude'. Paperback – May 4, 2014

It's not easy to find information on these cats. Sure, there might be a paragraph or two in a larger cat encyclopedia type book, but the details are sparse. This book gave my son all he needed for a report on calico cats! Fast shipping was appreciated as he told me about the project just 4 days before the due date!

Do not spend any money on this book if you were hoping to get much information about tortoiseshell cats. Possibly 5% of the contents have any relevance to tortoiseshell cats specifically; the rest is generic cat selection and care information. In spite of the author's reference to the wonderful color mixtures that show up in these cats, the only color pictures are on the front and back covers, and the interior has two small black-and-white illustrations. If you wanted quotations or stories from owners of tortoiseshell cats, there are maybe two. Every couple of pages, the author throws in 'tortoiseshell' as an adjective before 'cat' in some passage that could apply to any cat of any color. It's also badly in need of a copyeditor - even in the few, pitiful parts that refer to the cats, the author contradicts himself.I feel as if the money I spent on this book was stolen from me. There's another book, by Ingrid King, called Tortitude, that sounds as if it at least has pictures and stories of actual tortoiseshell cats. I wish I'd bought that one.

Unfortunately this Title is completely wrong. This not not a book on just Tortie cats. There are only 2 pages about general info on tortie cats you could easily just google. The rest of the book is on general cat care. Not Torties. Change the Title. Way to bait and switch on the title author! Grrrrrr. Bad business

Good. Informative and some info that I did not know already.I have a Tortie, spoiled rotten female, named Miss Hokie.

I was in a hurry, so I did not read the reviews before buying this book. More fool me.The author should be ashamed of himself for the misrepresentation constituted by this book. Of the 90 pages in this book, only the equivalent of FIVE & ONE HALF pages discuss tortoiseshell cats. The rest of the book might as well be titled "Cat Owning for Beginners".

I thought there would be more about “Tortitude” but most of what was in the book could be applied to any cat

I recently got the paperback edition of this book delivered. I had all of it read that same day. It does have some tortoiseshell specific info but most of it has been gone over in other cat care guides. However, I still like this one since there are so few books on the tortoiseshell cat.
