Q: Wi-fi control with hue hub possible? the “control with bluetooth” option is confusing.

None of these devices use WiFi. They use Bluetooth and Zigbee. If you use the Hub, it controls the device via Zigbee. You can control ~50 devices with a single hub. You can use your phone to control the lights without a hub. In that case, the phone Bluetooth is used to control the light. I believe you can control 10 lights with Bluetooth but I am not certain.

Q: Can i use this with a wall switch?

I don't see why not. It should default to whatever the color was before you turned it off. But if you have an Alexa with a built in hub...you can just turn it on/off with your voice.

Q: Can someone confirm the dimensions for this lamp? the old version of the lamp listed the dimensions as 3.7"d x 4.3"w x 58.6"h, is this one smaller?

2 choices.. Floor lamp and Table lamp. Select the table lamp for the correct dimensions.

Q: Will this stand well on a carpeted floor?

Yes the base is pretty well weighted
