Excellent Replica for display.
So first, based on the reviews I see already, I feel I should note, this is Narsil, not Andruil. This is the sword before it was broken, and therefore, has no runes on the blade. With that out of the way, here’s the pros: this replica is absolutely stunning in person. The workmanship is excellent from the leather, to the engravings, to the construction. Nothing seems cheap, or lazy. The gold inlays are absolutely beautiful, and all the metal is brilliant and color accurate to the film. The details on the sword are 1:1 accurate to the film as far as I can tell, including the size, which is huge. It is very sturdy, and if you wanna swing it around the back yard, it won’t fall apart as long as you’re not hitting stuff with it. The plaque is included and is made of solid wood, or at least very convincingly feels and appears to be. The “cons”: I use this word loosely, as I don’t really view these things as cons, so much as things you ought to know. First, and the closest thing to a con, this does not come with a scabbard. So if you’re interested in cosplaying with this, you’ll need to do some research and shop around because UC doesn’t even make one specifically for this replica as far as I can tell. Second, and most obviously, this is not a battle ready blade. The stainless steal is beautiful, but likely not tempered. The blade flexes very easily, but I’m not willing to bend it enough to find out for sure. It also has a “false edge”. Not to be confused with a dull edge. The edge of the blade is totally flat. You could not cut through cheese with this blade, but on the wall, it *appears* sharp without close inspection. The point however, is extremely sharp, and will absolutely pierce skin if you’re not careful. It is also far heavier than a functional longsword should or would be. Summary: the sword is a gorgeous, well built wall hanger that feels very cool to take off the wall and hold and even swing around outside for fun, but absolutely not functional or sharp edged.

Very good LOTR films replica Sword
I purchased this sword as a Christmas gift for my Tolkien fanatic husband. Michael has loved the Lord of the Rings tales since early childhood and wanted a sword, particularly Narsil, for years. (long before Peter Jackson filmed his wonderfully respectful epics.) As per my husband, this is a faithful reproduction of the sword designed for the LOTR films, and United Cutlery's version is blessed by New line Cinema. The overall quality is quite good; with decent steel, used for the blade, quality leather handgrip and antiqued silver and 24 k' gold appointments on the pommel. As an former SCA member, I will mention that this sword, as hand and a half bastard sword,(40 and 5/8 ") is really meant for display. The edges are blunt and it comes with a short wood placard for hanging vertically. (We plan to get additional hardware to fit ours horizontally over the hearth.) For any practical recreationist use, I should think you could find something better suited from SCA Sources, but this is an excellent fantasy sword. If you do plan to wear & wield Narsil, Check out the scabbard for Anduril & Narsil, also on AMAZON: <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007XC3NM/qid=1136064712/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/104-3325023-2375161?v=glance&s=sporting-goods&n=507846> This is on my husband's birthday wish list, so I can't speak to the scabbard's quality as yet. The balance of the sword seems a little "blade- heavy" and the point is quite sharp enough to skewer carpets, toes and family pets. 'Suggest you play with it outside. My husband is very pleased with this LOTR replica and is overjoyed to have a tangible, (read: sharp & pointy) connection with his best-loved works of literature.

Heavy REAL Broad Sword!
Okay, I love the quality! I am actually affixing this to the lid of my father's casket because we are LOR nerds and he is in very poor health. I'm super impressed with the quality. My father will be proud to have this with him in the next world...

Most elegant sword ever
I am connecting a lot of sword from movie and game. The sword Narsil or engraved version Anduril are simply the most elegant. It is hard to imagine a better design. I have both of them from United Cultery. This is also the longest sword I have. Blade itself are 40inch, even I am 6’4, I found it very hard to put it back to the scabbard due to its length. But, I still love it!

High quality and perfect condition!
The sword arrived five days after it was scheduled, but otherwise I have no complaints! It arrived in its original packaging, which was custom made by United Cutlery to protect the product and prevent it from accidentally stabbing a mailman. There was also an informational sheet that describes the history of the sword in the books as well as the story of the design and craftsmanship of the replica itself. The sword is impressively heavy and over four feet long. It has good balance and the mounting plaque that comes with it is simple but elegant, and very easy to assemble. It has a false edge, of course, but it looks and feels like a functional sword. Gorgeous, with all the details just right! The hardened leather hilt and gold- and silver-plated embellishments are true to the film and make for a distinctive, understated, classy elegance.

This is Narsil, not Anduril, and is awesome!
This is the genuine United Cutlery UC1267 Narsil "Sword of King Elendil" and so far appears more solid than UC1299 "Sword of Strider" which we also own. I believe the only difference between this and UC1380ASNB Anduril "Sword of King Elessar" is that Anduril has the runes on the blade, added in the story when it was re-forged. It fits perfectly in UC1396LTNB Anduril Scabbard which we also own. (The Sword of Strider fits loosely, being smaller, but we have not yet been able to locate anyone selling UC1366LTNB Strider Scabbard.) My son was spending his birthday money on this, but would have had to wait to earn more to afford Anduril, so he decided he didn't need the runes on the blade. He is completely happy with his purchase! He loves the ridges in the grip, where the Strider Sword is smooth, and it appears to be solid through the grip, where the Strider Sword needed some epoxy after somewhat rough use. I wouldn't call it a toy, it is quite capable of inflicting damage with its point, and the edge comes just shy of sharp. Horrible workmanship.
Craftsmanship on my sword was horrible. I purchased it as a gift for a good friend and fellow LOTR fan. Had to send it back, as it was of extremely poor quality.

GREAT SWORD
i just got this sword and i love it. This sword is a lot bigger than i thought it would be and A LOT heavier. Right out of the box the blade is a little foggy in some parts. I tried using windex (glass cleaner) but it didnt seem to work so i found some stainless steel cleaner and it worked great. Overall this sword is fantastic, if you are a Lord of the Rings fan i highly recommend this.
