I've found a perfect solution for my treadmill static problem with the iFixit Anti-Static Wrist Strap. While designed for electronics repair, I've repurposed it for my needs. I attached the adjustable elastic band to my treadmill's metal frame and I attach the metal clip to my shorts while using the treadmill. It works great!Before this fix, static electricity made touching my treadmill a shocking experience. Now, the problem is almost completely eliminated! The 6-foot coiled cord gives me plenty of freedom while running. It seems well constructed so I'm hoping this lasts a long time. And even if it doesn't, it's an affordable strap.For anyone facing static issues with exercise equipment, this affordable strap is an unexpected but effective solution. It's such a simple fix that's made my workouts much more enjoyable. Highly recommended for this unconventional but practical use!

I've used it a half a dozen times to dismantle computers. It is a nice device to have since everyone has become computer safety crazy these days. Most of the time, I just use the chassis and ground my arm against it while I work. Never had a problem, yet. I will admit, this comes in handy when I'm handling something that is a little trickier than average. I bought 2 and keep one in my portable tool pouch at all times.

I totally admit i've been winging it since I was a kid doing tech repairs and maintenance with no strap. Well it's about time I finally got one just incase. The iFixit one made me convinced to get one as I know they are a quality maker of tech tools and this was no exception. It feels really well built and doesn't get uncomfortable when working.It's that good easy of mind just incase you know?

I’ll go back to this, but let me talk about the strap itself now.The strap is comfortable, easily adjustable, and appears durable. It can be connected to a grounded socket in a power supply using a banana plug or to the chassis of a device using an alligator clip, offering versatility in its use. The cable is both flexible and sturdy. A potential improvement could be the addition of a clip or mechanism for easier wearability, although its elastic band design was clear at the time of purchase, and it functions as expected.Regarding the continuity concerns mentioned by some users, my experience confirms the product's specifications. It has an impedance of about 1MOhm, which is intended to safeguard both the user and the devices by enabling a slow discharge of any static electricity. Direct grounding without any impedance could pose a risk if one were to encounter a high-voltage wire, as it facilitates a direct path to ground that could be hazardous. To verify this feature, one should use the impedance setting on a multimeter, expecting to see a value around 1MOhm. Most multimeters set their continuity detection threshold significantly below this, typically between tens and 500 Ohms, explaining why the continuity test may not trigger the expected buzzer sound.

Works well and has a good group. Would be nice if the tether cord was a little longer but overall great product.

I mean can't say it doesnt work, but i also cant say it does, so it works? The product is definitely great quality material.

I haven't used it yet but obviously how can you go wrong it's affordable and too simple a product for it to be defective in any way so of course I'd recommend it!

Ignore the negative reviews that complain about "lack of continuity" for this strap - it correctly has 1 megaohm resistance between the metal plate of the strap and the clip (see photo). You don't want this to be a "bare wire" connection - the idea is to slowly drain any static charge.The strap itself is very well made, and the first I have seen with adjustable length - I have large hands but needed to shorten it a bit for proper contact. The part that goes against your skin is also much larger than I have seen in other, cheaper straps. I appreciate that the alligator clip can be removed to reveal a banana plug.
