I'm super glad it came with the tools for opening the ... This is an incredible product! Here's why - even though the rated capacity is the same as the O.E.M. battery, this new one has a longer run time. This is my wife's golf GPS and even when it was new, it would not last through 2 rounds of golf on an 18-hole regulation course. Now, she can play two full rounds on one full charge! I'm super glad it came with the tools for opening the case of the GPS unit. It was fairly easy to open the case to access the battery location. Warning - this has to be done very carefully and patiently. Before you remove the old battery, note the location of the wire leads. Your new battery leads must lay the same way or the case will not snap shut. Also, after removing the tiny Philips Screw from one side of the case, apply a small strip of tape on both sides of the device to hold the 4 (2 on each side) operating buttons. If you don't, these buttons, which are very tiny, will fall out of place and will be difficult to put them back in their proper positions. If you break one of the plastic tabs that snap the case closed, not to worry. Simply use some clear or frosted Scotch Tape to hold the case together. No one will notice it. This cost me $10 to replace the battery. The battery was replaced by the factory 2 years ago and the charge was $40! Jim

The battery works great but opening the golf buddy to replace the battery was a challenge. Perhaps some instructions would help. There are videos on YouTube lets you know how (sorta) but even with that it’s tough to get the back off with furnished tools. Had to use flat head screwdriver and forced back off

Installed the battery in my Golf Buddy, charged it up, and a few days later, played 18 holes, and left it on till I got home. Turned it on at 10:30am, off at 4;00pm. Indicator showed 1/2 charge. Not bad. When new I would get 2 rounds from a charge (about 8 hrs.) Before the new battery, played 9 holes and the voice said low battery before the 7th hole. As for rating, I'll have to see how long the battery lasts. Original was over 5yrs. As for the kit that came with the battery, screw driver was ok but the plastic wedges were almost useless. At least I got it started to separate the case a bit. The plastic is not durable, but you will not mangle the case either. All in all, worth the money, not a hard job to do if you're handy around the house.

I love my Golf Buddy, (over 5 years old) but the battery started to need charged more often and lasted less and less. This product a little tedious, but overall easy to install. This allowed me to continue love my Golf Buddy for a little longer!

Bought because original battery was only good for 1 round after years of use, this new battery still only last 1 round where the new original battery with the golf buddy lasted 2 rounds?? Bummer! UPDATE: Died after 4 rounds of golf, would not recommend this product. rip off!

With a little effort, you can fix it yourself!

The plastic tools were not able to open the unit. The battery was easy to change after opening. The battery does not the life the original had. It does work for one round, but needs recharging before the next round. I should have bought only the battery, without the tools.

Replacing the battery with much easier than I expected. Very helpful to have the tool set, and the instructions were clear enough to guide me through the process. Hopefully you never have to replace your battery, but if you do, this kit was a good one.
