Works great, it just has a little bit of a hard time tracking me.

I now have two Swivls with markers that just don't work. The markers don't charge and the lights don't come on and it doesn't work and it comes with NO directions, so all of the directions need to be figured out on-line and there is no available customer service. All I can determine at this point is that it is definitely not user error and is a mechanical problem. I've narrowed it down by swapping components on both... not the base, not the charger.... the marker. I'll have to return them both again. I don't know if I'll bother to start over. It's a great idea, but wherever it is made --- something isn't made well. Another FYI is that even without the functioning marker, I tried to record anyway and ended up with a very important video with absolutely no sound. This is not idiot proof, does not have any readily available support and it apparently is not made well. One... it's a fluke. Two.... it's not designed well.

When recording with my Samsung S7, there was a 14 second delay between my audio and my video. After contacting Swivl, I was told that i need an older device, one that runs Android 6 or 7. I have an old Samsung s4 but it ran Android 5 and did not connect at all. When I use my s7, which has android 8, there is that delay. I now have to find another method to rerecord for my edTPA. I contacted Swivl again, asking if I could get access to the app needed to use a Microsoft surface. I have a surface pro3 and the new surface pro (5). Neither computer would connect. Swivl tech support was fast in responding to my questions but unfortunately they are still working on the android problem and should have a patch in the next few months. I have used a different model of Swivl i had borrowed from the school district that worked wonderfully. I am very disappointed with this purchase.UPDATE: I was able to return my swivl for a refund. Both Amazon and swivl were very cooperative and expedient with getting my request processed. I increased my star rating because of the excellent service I received. I feel that swivl makes an excellent, well built product if the proper recording device is used (the device from the district worked flawlessly) and I hope they are able to keep up with the ever changing tech programing.

I bought my Swivl early 2018 and love the device.I use it with an iPad Air 2 and we have recorded well over 500 videos with it from our 3 day event to our evening events to outside recording when I'm traveling.I also have a cloud account with them so when we record the video, the system automatically upload the video to cloud and removes it from the device allowing us to record as many videos as we want.A couple of things I learned over the past few years to get better results from using it:1- Turn off auto tilt after you put it on the right height you want. For whatever reason the tilt thing has the mind of its own. So while you are infront of it , it may decide to start looking at the ceiling. Simply by turning off auto tilt you get rid of that problem2- don't turn your back to it and expect it to follow you. It's very easy to forget you are wearing the tracker on your chest.3- make sure the tracker is on your chest by using the lanyard over your neck LOL! I've seen peopole putting the tracker in their pocket and then be angry at the device for not following them4- remember that the tracker is a microphone so don't make loud noises around it. One time I had flip chart papers in my hand and made so much noise that in the recording it's really hard to hear what I was saying5- use the cloud option if you record multiple days of content,6- make sure your tablet is fully charged. The device automatically stops recording on iPad when it has lower than 5% battery. That definitely has caused us some issues at a couple of events. But it was our fault for not charging the device the night before.All in all I can't imagine my business without Swivl. Lots of professional videographers are mad at this device but the reality is that this device does not replace professional videographers, however it allows you to record content that you wouldn't want to hire a videographer for.

I've been using Swivl since 2016 for educational purposes. Currently, I manage the deployment of 11 units throughout our school network. Because I've been the point person at a network level, I've asked a lot of questions of Swivl's customer care department and I've been very pleased with the caliber of support.The tech itself is EXTREMELY easy to use! I love that I can provide a brief overview of set up and cloud navigation and teachers and/or school leaders are able to utilize the capabilities without a lot of hassle. It's very easy for a teacher to log in to the app, turn on the robot and marker, and hit record.EVERY SINGLE time I've had a question or concern (or even a broken robot), the customer care team has responded to help me troubleshoot.Swivl has helped individual teacher in our network reflect on their teaching; it has provided opportunities for coaches to support teachers when distance would otherwise be a factor; and school leaders have found innovative ways to share video with families to strengthen the ties between home and school.This is hands-down the best edtech product I have ever used.
