Does the top of the encasing completely zip off the bottom of the encasing for easier washing? Our mattress is so big and heavy.

No it does not zip all the way down-it's about half way. You don't need to wash it often though.

Where is the zipper on this cover? The sides or ends? I have an air mattress with hoses coming out at the head. Would this cover work?

Reply from Seller: The zipper extends around half of both sides and the foot of the encasing. It is not conducive for use with hoses. A ”Fitted” encasing is used for this purpose. It has no bottom to it and the sides tuck around the hoses and under the mattress, like a fitted sheet. The”Fitted” encasing fits multiple depth mattresses, 9”-18” depths. It has been tested to block all allergen. What is the zipper made of?

Mine is not accessable to me a ight now, but if memory serves me right, the zipper teeth are plastic and there is plastic flap behind them to create a tight seal. We've been using ours for three years and like it.

I decided to get a separate cover for the Topper alone because the Topper should be turned and rotated during the year. Putting both items in the encasing would make this very difficult. I also got a separate encasing for the mattress itself, separate from the topper.
