Why does it say batteries are the power source?

Is there any quality difference between this and the gold version?

You would have to ask the manufacturer. I doubt anyone bought both the gold and steel version. However; I will say that the mechanics are the same and it does work. Takes more effort than an electric, but put this in your survival bag for when we get overrun with zombies that we have no access to electricity. You might have to fight for your life, but you will not have annoying ear and nose hair!

Does this trimmer work for ears, also?

I have used it for my nose and it works. It should also work on ears but i still use my electric trimmer for that as it is quicker.

Does the package for this trimmer come sealed?
