great book
Gives great explanation of how to build each main part of vehicle plus 30 models. Also, can go to website to get parts list for each model so you can prepare the kit in advance

Very cool
Nice little book for beginners building 4-6 stud vehicles. Fun build ideas. Good starting point for aspiring new LEGO designers.

Great for ideas not directions
This is a great little book for giving you the process to design your own cars. It does not include any real instructions and it can be difficult to figure out how to build some of the cars just from the picture. This is not a step-by-step Lego direction like you'd expect from a box of Legos.

Needs more details on how to build the cars
I bought this book knowing I would probably have to purchase some extra blocks to be able to make the cars shown. The website (given on page 4) that is supposed to direct me to which specific blocks are used in each design takes me no where. It would have been nice to have the lists printed right on the page the car is shown. Instead, there are only general instructions given.I like the large photos and there are some clever designs, but I don't know if it's worth keeping a book if I can't easily collect the necessary bricks.

Not up to DK standards
Normally, I think DK books are super but this one is just frustrating. Does anyone have instructions or even a brick list for the monkey car. The generic website we're directed to for brick lists have bare bones listings and in some cases the quantity needed is incorrect. No part numbers - just photos. This is NOT a book for beginners or young children just starting out with Lego. Be prepared to spend hours searching for parts to make each model unless you are a master builder with a gazillion Lego already.

Save your money
The quality of the book is great, pages are thick and strong, hardcover is sturdy. That being said, I am returning this book. I can't find anything in the book or the Lego website on where I can buy the specialty pieces or kits to make the cars in the book. It's frustrating to have directions to building cool cars, and not being able to find the proper pieces.

Esta muy bien...pero no sirve para construir
Esta muy bien pero no explica como montar las ideas que da y con que set se montan.El libro esta muy bien, porque es bonito y colorido, al niño le encanta.Pero en mi opinion no sirve para construir.

Great book
This was bought for my grandkids as they have a large collection of Lego and wanted them to have ideas of what to make with it, the book gives numerous suggestions of what to build with some great pictures, not quite step by step but enough that you can build, my only gripe is with these books someone the back of the model is not seen so you have to guess what pieces of Lego are actually used, I’ve bought other books in this series with the same small gripe, but if you want ideas and have spare Lego then I recommend these series of books

BYOBricks
LEGO is brilliant and most fans will have countless bricks lying all over the place. Some of you may keep your kits all in their box after use, but we end up with boxes of bits. This moves the experience of building from plans to using your imagination. The 'How to Build LEGO Cars' is a book that will inspire the young fan as to what different types of car they can make from all the bits they have laying around. This is a book and comes with no pieces, so you may not be able to recreate the exact designs on offer. It is more designed to inspire and shows that with a few tweaks you can make something quite different. The book itself is a lovely hardback and full of full colour images. It does not have a direct guide on how to build and skips some steps. This will be fine for the type of child that will get the most from this book as they will already have a good idea on how do a lot of the building. This is a book for the fans.

Brilliant gift for a LEGO Lover
This book was perfect for my nephew. He loves building with LEGO, and this was the perfect addition to his collection. Finally, a book teaching techniques, not just showing pretty pictures. Really useful to be able to download brick lists for each model too. There are loads of different cars to build, some cool, some funny (I may have to try building some myself).Well done DK, one of your best ever LEGO titles!
