Lethal Weapon: 4 Film Favorites [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]

Complete Lethal Weapon Edition is an 8 disc collection (I got mine from Germany), now like any movie(s) starring Mel Gibson, it has the 'Mel Gibson' (which I am not going to dwell on, as anyone reading this will have their own opinion on Gibson's Religious, racial opinions) factor built into it. Another separate element of the LW movies is their none PC humour (and often very funny results) that are built on the relationship of Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) and Martin Riggs (Gibson). One a family man, the other a suicidal cop partnered up-unwillingly, and the four movies chart their emotional as well police up & downs. One of the strengths of the movies is its retention of cast members Darlene Love, Tracy Wolfe, Joe pesci (whom is brilliant in the 2nd, grating in the 3rd and inspired in the 4th). Rene Russo. Gary Busey and Mitchell Ryan make memorable villains in the 1st, Derrick O'Conner (the sweeney/ Fox /Brazil)and Joss Auckland are both very nasty and funny as the villains in LW2. Stuart Wilson (another Sweeney regular) pops cup as a nasty piece of work in three. And Jet Li makes a more than equal to Riggs villain in four. Steve kahan (Richard Donner's cousin I think) is a series regular as are Mary Ellen trainer ( Flight directer Robert Zemeckis wife). Donner whom directs all four after kick starting The Omen trilogy, Superman trilogy(4 can't really be considered a Superman movie-disgrace). Each movie has its real moment of darkness-this is more prevelant in the first two. Always relieved by humour. As this set contains both versions (theatrical and "directors cuts"), it is will worth buying- i always preferred the original versions myself, and feel the directors cuts are something of a misnomer, and were a marketing device run by Warner Bros, as other people have stated to increase revenue. After saying that though, these little Extras do subtly alter scenes and change tones and pay-offs within the LW movies. On the downside some of the LW movies appear to be cut as extensively as their UK cousins. Still the set is well-worth buying. Best scene from All four movies ----Leo Getz(Pesci) and Murtaugh(Glover) in the African Embassy...

Inspired by the current TV series, which kept to the basic elements of all buddy films, I decided to try the originals again. And what a joy the films still are. The chemistry between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover is obvious and enjoyable. The plots, though a little dated, still drive the film along, and excellent actors supplement the cast, especially Joe Pesci, and my long-time favourite, Joss Ackland(in the second film). Was this a wise purchase? Absolutely. So much fun for a truly good price. If you feel like a burst of nostalgia, this is a great box to pass away some enjoyable hours.

what a great service, arrived very quick. I would recommend to friends and family. I would use again if they had dvds I wanted.

I love these films... I watch them again and again. Watch how the friendship between Gibson and Glovers characters develops. This duo will never be out done. You'll wanna be their best friends too. The Lethal Weapon films are action packed and very funny. Buy them... Buy them now! (It's a steal at this price).

Je craignais une déception en revoyant ces films qui m'avaient tant amusés il y a déjà bien longtemps. Et bien n'ayez pas peur, le duo d'acteurs fonctionne à merveille, les rythme de l'action est soutenu sans être hystérique, comme dans bien des films contemporains, et les dialogues entre les deux compères sont un régal. Donc si vous voulez vous amuser, et seulement vous amuser, en famille, et à partir de 12/13 ans, foncez!!

Directors'cut che è tutto un programma.La saga è meravigliosa e i minuti in più a mio parere sono una chicca! Non ho bisogno di consiglarlo perché gli appassionati lo prenderanno comunque.Unica pecca,il disco n.4 è totalmente anonimo.Tutto color "cd",che se per caso te lo perdi,lo confondi con uno vergine.Ha solo il film,senza altri contenuti e parte in lingua inglese.Bisogna usare il tasto menu del telecomando pre l'italiano.Per il resto,arrivato anche in anticipo rispetto alla data stabilita.

Great picture quality for 1080p, the quality keeps getting better as you progress through the collection. The soundtrack is demonstration material, surely a must have for your collection for the franchise that created the buddy cop movies. If you grew up in the 90s or like 90s films with real explosions and stunts, then this is the collection to have.

Just as good as when first released.
