Great product with excellent finish and adhesive
Great product with excellent finish and adhesive. STRONG adhesive. Which is good, but be prepared for it when installing. I used this to repair my 2005 Honda Accord leather driver's seat, which was down to the foam cushion on the left bolster. Since more than enough of the surface leather material was generously supplied by Masta, I had more than enough to do a two layered application, which I recommend for people who are using this product for a seat repair. Start by cutting paper templates to test fit the area (I used the actual package cardstock for my templates). Doing this will ensure you get the right contour and fit. I made a smaller patch first, to insert underneath the layer of the original leather, with the sticky side facing out. This allowed for a double-bond adhesive grip and improved the thickness in the area that had been worn down. Slide it into place, and THEN peal the adhesive backing off while holding it in position. This will prevent slippage while installing. I then applied the larger patch to the surface with enough coverage to adhere to the existing leather and grip the secondary smaller patch underneath. In this case, peal the adhesive backer off first, apply the patch at the stitch line of the outside of the bolster and gradually press into place. The material patch is flat, but pliant, so if your seat has compound curves, you will end up with slack or a crease in your last area rubbed down. You can scissor-cut an inch or so, removing a thin V shape in the area and then the seam will line up without puckering the material. Be sure to tuck the seam edge into the bolster crevice and do your best to follow the original stitch line contours - this will hide the patch more smoothly with the seams hidden in the seat design. I had to return my first order due to improper color match, so double check your material color carefully (return shipping cost me $8.00). I would use this product again for sure. Very effective, inexpensive, and easy to use.

Amazingly effective.
I also wish I'd taken a before picture. This chair's leather just dried out and disintegrated in one spot about 4" x 6" and I couldn't find a repair service (that I would trust) in my region. The chair is a particular shade of blue that's not too uncommon, so I took a chance on the MastaPlasta "navy" shade, and it happened to match almost perfectly. Of course, I'm sticking textured plastic onto old, colored leather, so the likelihood of it being invisible is pretty low, but as these photos show, if you're not looking closely, the once-ruined chair looks completely undamaged. The material is very pliable, and to my surprise, it fitted very well over the pleating on the seat area, including a leather "tie down" loop. I had visions of the edges pulling up within a few days, but it's been weeks now, and the patch just fits better. It stretches just a little, as the leather does, so it has conformed amazingly well to the folds and creases that I could never have forced the patch into. What's more, the adhesive is incredibly strong, and even with the stretch of the cushion there's not a hint of lifting or bleeding goo even at the most exposed edges. Before purchasing this MastaPlasta patch, I had (stupidly) tried a piece of Gorilla Tape, which is a variation on duct tape that I thought might not "bleed" as much as duct tape, but the adhesive turned out to be even more incredibly goopy, especially with the heat and lateral forces of someone sitting on it. Within a couple of days my error was obvious -- thick, stringy, tacky goo around all the edges. The tape was literally sliding around on a thick bed of tacky glue. It took days of careful brushing and daubing with Goo-Gone to remove the whole ropy mess. After this fiasco, I was reluctant to try another stick-on solution, but the hole was larger now, and the finish on the surrounding leather was even more mangled by the tape adhesive and solvent, so I didn't really have anything to lose -- this wonderful expensive chair was a goner. But this patch completely resurrected the cushion, and the chair is back in service. One photo shows a typical view of the patch -- it's almost invisible at first glance. The other photo is a closeup of one edge, with the light re-positioned to make the patch stand out as much as possible. Note how well the patch clings to the folds and the leather loop-button underneath. I was lucky the color was such a good match, but the fit and permanence of the patch isn't luck -- this is an amazingly effective product.

Good Product
Good Packaging, Timely Delivery I have received the product few days ago. Packaging Viewpoint is as usual. This product appears to be very well manufactured. I am not so happy nor disappointed about this product. It does reasonable repair and can prevent further damage. When I ordered it, I knew it might not be the perfect match. But the color is pretty close. Down side about this is, it is a big piece, for small repair you have to cut it. And as you know when you cut a thick object with scissors it just does not come out right. The manufacturer should have different size options. I will give this product a 4 star for now. Unless if comes off in few weeks, I hope that does not happen. MastaPlasta, Leather Repair Patch, First-aid for Sofas Car Seats, Handbags Jackets, Plain 8-inch by 11-inch, Dark Brown

Great product
I wish I had a before picture! Our leather couches are 10 years old and are most definitely wearing thin in a few places and had some tears that we let get far too big before mending. While our child and dog are still young and using the couch as a wrestling mat I refuse to get a new one, so I ventured out to find a way to patch somewhere in between duct tape and a $3k professional. This stuff is great! It was easy to use and you can trim it however you need. The adhesion seems legit - it's been on for about 2 weeks and is in daily rugged use and hasn't budged. For us, the color matched as perfectly as it can considering it's a 10 year old worn out couch - I'll take an obvious patch over the rips any day! Will purchase again - for the inevitable future rips.

Works fine, a few issues
While I feel this option is a nice convenient option for people that don't want to mess with the liquid repair kits, I do have a few issues with the product that others should be aware of: 1) We ordered one 'Dark Brown' patch in March and it matched our espresso furniture exactly. I ordered another in July and it was a lighter colored 'Dark Brown' - more like a chocolate. I didn't really think about checking if there was going to be a difference before slapping it on, so now we have a multi-colored patched up couch. I'm now looking for something that is bigger to cover the top portion of the couch that needed multiple patches. We had a peeling leather issue the grew after we applied the first patch. Looking back, I would say this patch was too small to contain the entire repair and I should have looked for another leather repair option. 2) If you have the edges of the patch somewhere that a head/hair will rest on, the edge of the patch is still a little sticky for awhile after it is applied. As in, you sit your head against it and you can feel your hair stick to it. It goes away eventually. I guess they have a different product that is smaller for sofa repair that looks like the edges slope down and become thin. This may have been our perfect option if they made one to fit the size of the repair we needed.around the edge to blend it in. Will probably just live with it until it gets patchier and we upgrade to new furniture. I'm not a fan of the photos for their other products with a design that looks like it blends in to the surrounding on the listing for their XL repair patch that does not blend in. With that said, the patch has stayed in place and adhered beautifully. I just wish there was a little more consistency with the color of the dark brown. For example making two skus instead of one if the colors are going to differ so much.

AMAZING PRODUCT!
I never realized how much I take this product for granted until I replaced an old patch on our ten year old couch, destroyed on a regular basis by our four cats. This stuff is easy to use, cuts to size like a breeze, sticks like glue and holds up like iron. Just a simple, reliable, reasonably priced product that works exactly as you’d hope it would. Ten out of ten! Couldn’t be without it.

Excellent product
I needed something that would cover a place on the sides of an upholstered chair where my cat's claws had shredded the fabric. The dark green MastaPlasta was the perfect color and the size was right to cut in half for use on each side. I wondered if the adhesive would work on the fabric. It adhered quickly and easily, and has stayed in place for months. Best of all, the cat doesn't care for the texture and no longer scratches the chair--it has been replaced as his favorite scratching place with a post designed for that purpose--and we are both happy now. This is an excellent product, versatile for various repair jobs, and in several colors that should work for many pieces of furniture. While the leather patches do show on the fabric chair, they are not obvious, and are certainly an improvement to the look of shredded fabric!

Very happy with this leather patch - Easy to trim and apply, strong and durable, at a fair price
This leather repair patch kit has worked well for me (this is the 2nd time I've used it). It's a good size (any larger would be hard to work with). The first time, last year, I simply cut it in half and applied these self adhesive pieces to worn/torn spots in the seat of my leather desk chair. The pieces were easy to apply and matched the chair color (dark brown) well enough. Most important of all, they have held up to heavy daily traffic (my rear end) for over six months - no scuffing, sagging, shifting, or distortion of any kind (look the same as the day I applied them). Recently I ordered another patch, this time for the arm rests of the same chair. But I think I'll apply this patch to another item of leather furniture that needs some help, and order yet two more patches for those arm rests. Each arm will need its own patch because I intend to trim it to look like those protector cloths you see sometimes on an arm rest or the elbow of a jacket. The chair is dark brown, but this time I think I will order light brown or tan to accentuate the effect of an arm rest protector. So, obviously, I very happy with "MastaPlasta" (really corny reference to the 3rd of Mel Gibson's road warrior movies) and recommend it as delivered timely, fair price, easy to trim and apply, thick and durable.
