I’ve been using Khadi (light blonde, medium blonde) for a year and I will never use anything else. I’m perplexed by the negative reviews.I think people don’t understand that it’s also really important to use a clarifying shampoo (removed build up from hair products, especially important if you use any silicone-based products) from your hair follicle. If you don’t wash your like this your hair follicle will be clogged and no Khadi pigments will get into your hair follicle.The heat aspect is important also because it opens the hair follicle completely.Both your hair and the Khadi paste should be warm to the touch - I used a hot water kettle in the bathroom and bring the water to boil. As soon as I’m out of the shower I mix the Khadi then apply immediately on WARM wet hair. Obviously don’t burn yourself but after mixing it shouldn’t be boiling hot anymore. The paste should be the consistency of yogurt.I then put on a plastic shower cap over my entire head and press it down into the paste to create a seal to make sure it the paste and my hair stay moist for the entire hour of setting (do not let the paste dry!!! Of course it will be hard to wash out with just water if you let it dry! And you won’t have gotten any color into your hair follicle!).Next, I wrap my head in a towel to keep the temperature of the paste warm and set my timer for an hour.After an hour I can already see a little bit of color, but the magic happens when you DO NOT WASH OR USE ANY PRODUCT for 48 hours to allow the color to oxidize and deepen and develop. It’s magic.I then “set” the color with hair oil, and wash after a few hours.Following the regimen I have great success with the color, I only have to touch up my roots and every few weeks - it hardly fades, also. My hair is so much healthier now that I have stopped using commercial chemical dye.Amazing product! (And I have tried a few other herbal dyes). For reference I am naturally dark blonde with light blonde and red highlights. I do not have any gray hair, but I have some white streaks and total loss of pigment. This works, for me, on white hair.

I did everything that the instructions said to do wash my hair before with the cleanser shampoo and then color and make sure that it is the right temperature and then stay on for a hour. I did everything and my hair stinks not to mention it was extremely hard to wash clean with water only. But the worst thing is I am out 50 dollars and it didn’t even color my hair. Now I have to wait and try again with a different product. I so would not recommend this product..

I'm not sure how I missed the indigo content of this hair color when I purchased it, but indigo is a blue pigment that combines with yellow to form green. The test strand I did of this dye on platinum hair came out with a significant green and muddy tinge, even after processing for two days and shampooing. Usually indigo is used in combination with henna since they can cancel each other out. It doesn't seem like it belongs in this hair dye. I tried to capture the "muddy" color in a photo but it's hard to pick up on camera. I did the test strand on platinum hair and held it next to the light blonde for comparison. Some parts pulled the indigo more than others probably due to porosity differences. I would definitely lean more towards the sunrise blonde or plain cassia and avoid indigo in lighter colors.

I emailed the company and I was told that I didn't need the color prep for this shade to cover gray. Left in 2 hours. It didn't cover the gray. All it did is dry out my hair.
