Q: Does this have a razor?

No, there is no razor. What it is, is the BEST dog grooming tool I've ever had. Its simy amazing. I have both the large & small one. You would be amazed at the amout of shedding hair & undergrowth this tool removes. My dogs L O V E it! I Very Highly reccomend and have repeatedly.

Q: So does this just remove dead hair? Or is it actually cutting the hair as it goes? Like, I know its not a shaver, but will it make thin spots?

it will cut any debris (chiggers other seeds) out of thick hair. I use it daily on my Golden retriever and get a hand full of hair by session end. But never thinned out area, just silky smooth coat.
