Take your time heating up the salt stone to avoid thermal shock, I use mine on a gas grill to sear steaks it works great.

I had always heard about these but never used one. I bought this one to try it out. This salt plate is a game changer. It adds flavor to steaks that is amazing. I cooked salmon on it and it turned out delicious. It adds just the right amount of salt flavor without overpowering the salt taste. I have bought two more since and put one in the RV and one in the outdoor kitchen. The best results are achieved when the plate is at or above 400 degrees. I have used it on the grill, in the oven, and even straight on the burner on the gas oven. Simply wipe it down with a damp sponge, maybe a green scrub pad if needed, and wipe off with a towel when done. DO NOT use soap, or put directly in water. IT IS SALT, it will dissolve if you do. I always turn mine over to the opposite side I cooked on the last time when I use it the next time.

I thought my daughter the foodie was out of her mind when she said to get this thing. So I did and we tried it tonight and it was unbelievably great. The beef we grilled was fabulous - tasty - not too salty - just perfect. AND we heated the sale over a burner on the gas stove - then put the salt block on a heat resistant slate on the table. And we grilled for over 40 minutes without reheating.It is a great product - the perfect gift for the food lover on your list. HIGHLY recommend.

As any other pan, you have to season it , It gave a good flavor to our grilled fish, it was easy to clean, you need to know how to warm it up, which will take time. It looks very fancy once you pull it out from the grill

Bought this as a gift for hubby. He’s had fun using it several times. The tray is very durable and makes using the salt slab convenient.

I got it as a gift. It was well packaged and looked neat out of the box. It is a solid heavy piece of salt and we were so excited to try it out. I made sure to warn everyone not to get water on it as I had seen reviews on some of them exploding. We preheated the grill and placed the salt block in it and waited for it to heat up. When we went outside to place the steaks on it, we found that it had exploded and opened the grill lid from the force of the explosion. We found salty water all on the floor under it which seemed like it was water content trapped inside the block, indicating that it was not fully dehydrated. I would say it is a very dangerous hobby that I would not recommend to anyone, no matter how cool the idea sounds. Just salt your grilled food instead of putting your life in danger!

I love grilling on this. The amount of flavor this pulls out of the steak and chicken is phenomanal. I get compliments from friends and family about how juicy and tender the steaks and chicken are on this. I have also cooked up vegetables on this and they have a taste that you just don't get from conventional cooking. I haven't tried grilling fish or pork on it yet, but have plans to.
