Can't go wrong with this knife. It slices! It dices! It scoops up the stuff from the chopping block like a sideways spatula! I like that it's all one piece. There are no seams or edges whatsoever, so it's easy to keep clean. It's nice and lightweight, so I probably wouldn't be using it to chop through bones, but for vegetables and cuts of meat, works just fine. The handle is very comfortable to grasp, and it arrived fairly sharp from the factory, and I really don't mind it not coming with a sheath, as I have a set of pegs in the kitchen that let it hang from the hole in the blade. It came with a few light abrasion marks on the blade, but at this price point, I'm really not that concerned about them.

I have several Cutco knives that I've owned for years now, but didn't make the plunge for a cleaver due to the cost. I didn't expect much out of this cleaver when I ordered it. I placed my order and with Prime shipping it arrived quickly as expected. I'm using it to butcher deer. Each year we go huntin' and while my butcher knife does a fair job, I felt having one of these could speed up the process. I had a slab that needed processing so I figured what a great time for a test run. This cleaver has a great weight and feel to it. I confess I did sharpen it prior to use, just as I do all my knives. The expression " like a hot knife through butter" came to mind when I thrust it down through a slab of tenderloin. This cleaver is not dishwasher safe, but I NEVER put my knives through a dishwasher, even though I have one. I would NOT recommend doing so with any knives, or pots and pans. Since I haven't had it long I can't speak on the durability yet, but this cleaver feels solid. If your looking for a cleaver at a low price, then look no further. This is a great cleaver, and I am thrilled that I got the chance to purchase at a discount in order to test and review. This arrived well packaged and in the time promised. This is a nice weight in my hand, not too heavy and not too light. It arrived nice and sharp, so after washing, I was able to test it on chicken parts, and it was able to cut through the leg and thigh with not problems at all. This is a nice quality cleaver and my favorite feature is that it is one piece, so I don't have to worry about the handle coming loose, especially with using it as a cleaver. The very best part though, is the price. Even though I purchased at a discount, I can honestly say I would purchase at regular price with no hesitation. Its a great deal!

Good weight and nice feel to the handle. However, the blade had 3 very small chips... I could return it but I'll just live with it. Hopefully sharpening it will even it out.

This arrived hair-popping sharp (which I did not expect) and has maintained its edge so far with no maintenance other than keeping the blade aligned with a steel. I used it to butcher several rabbits (not for the actual dispatch) and it chopped through the necks and spines very cleanly and easily. No nicks or marks on the blade whatsoever, and like I said, it's maintained its edge beautifully. The weight and balance seem perfect to me, and I love that it's all one piece of steel -- there are literally no joints. I did not expect such good quality for such a low price.

Item arrived on time. Good quality one piece metal. Can feel the weight of the knife but it is not too heavy for a female's hand. Should be good for cutting chicken with bones. Don't feel it is super sharp but good enough for regular chopping.

SHARP! Got this at Alton Brown's suggestion for splitting squash in two... spaghetti squash, butternut squash, etc. Opening them with a knife is dangerous... use a cleaver and a good sturdy mallet, and I recommend laying the squash on a sturdy cutting board and wrapping a small dish towel around the bottom so the squash doesn't roll. Place the cleaver carefully where you want to split the squash, make sure the cleaver is as vertical as possible, make sure everyone is out of the way (you don't want anyone reaching for the pepper grinder right as you're about to strike!), and whack! It might take a little practice... but once you get the hang of it, it's a lot easier than using a knife. But the blade is very sharp... so always hold and transport carefully. Put it in a drawer where other knives are... not in a general utility drawer, so nobody just sticks their hand in without knowing what's in there!
