Too many distractions
The section commentaries themselves are okay. But the author starts each section with a short contemporary story. I found most of these stories to be unhelpful and distracting. For example, he starts his John the Baptist commentary by talking about some boy who made silly prank phone calls to strangers. I’m quite certain the author didn’t mean to say John the Baptist was preaching something silly. Instead he was trying to somehow connect the boy’s fake phone calls to John’s warnings.I just couldn’t get past those stories. They were confusing, and interrupted the flow of the message too much. I understand that others will feel differently about this.
