the black is a pigment ink the other 5 inks are dyes hope this helps , really good printer

Q: Is the scanning limited to A4?

essentially yes - the scan area is slightly bigger than A4. You can scan smaller documents, of course!

Q: Can anyone confirm if the Epson 8550 printer will print 300gsm matt card from the top feed without leaving roller marks?

You can load paper through the rear paper slot for thicker and harder paper types if you see that the rear paper feeder is leaving marks. Kind Regards Epson UK.
