Passages are decent, questions are ok
I like the passages in this book and some of the questions, but I find that in order to use them in my 8th grade classroom, I have to rewrite/add questions to increase the rigor and to format them in a way that students are actually tested. With that being said, I do use the passages a lot and it has saved me time in finding them online or from other sources.

Very simple book, with great results.
Due to a poor educational backgroud, I have always had trouble with finding the main idea, etc, when reading. I purchased this book before taking the college placement test. It took more than 15 mins a day. However, the result was so worth it. I scored 100% on the reading portion of my test. I can still remember the examiners exact words, " You can't count but at least you can read." Embrassing, but true. I have not had great success with the other 15 minutes a day topics. I highly recommend this book. This is my second time purchasing it. I brought a cope for my mom, would never give her mind.

Not a bad book but not what I was looking for
This book is well organized and covers a lot of skills needed to become a more effective reader; however, I bought it to help my daughter who is having difficulty with comprehension but she got a perfect score on the pre-test, so it seemed like it was not a good fit. I'm sure she got a perfect score because the test is multiple choice and that is not what she has difficulty with she has difficulty with critical thinking. She is a 6th grader at a private school, and the demands at her school are quite high. This book does not address her needs. I like the fact that it has a pre- test, but I think it tries to cover too many areas too quickly. For a summer program I think it would be helpful for a 5th grader as well. It definitely depends on what your child needs. Areas it covers include vocabulary, imagery, author perspective, point of view , theme, figurative language. Even though it did not serve my needs I think it could definitely be helpful for review.

My perspective - Reading in 15 Minutes a Day
During the 2012-2013 school year, one of my students gave this book to me to review. Her mother had given it to her to help her academically. The book contains wonderful exercises for students. It was so wonderful that I did not return the book back to her until the end of the school year. Although, she told me that I could have it, I felt a "little" guilty for having it for so long. Thus, the reason for my purchase.I would recommend it to any 5th - 7th grade Reading teacher. It is a wonderful tool. Please make sure that you give credit where credit is due and note on your assignments where the text from.

Reading in !5 Minutes Review
I really like the book. I can use the 3 different activities per skills to work for my students different levels. I have use some of your questions with my questions to create pre-test for my students. Overall, it is a great book for teaching reading.
