The Collected Fantasy of George MacDonald: Illustrated Edition

Beware, this is one seriously hefty paperback. It is filled with stories written in 1880 prose that will utterly transport you to other realms, that I found inspirational and enriching. I can't think of a better book if you needed to read to someone ill in bed, it would have the capacity to give them wings to fly in imagination.

Interesting read and fascinating man.

Reviewing the Kindle version:The title "The Collected Fantasy of George MacDonald: Illustrated Edition" sounded promising and contains nine of his famous fantasy story titles. However, I was disappointed to see that the story "At the Back of the Northwind" is NOT MacDonald's original version but an abridged, heavily edited version by Elizabeth Lewis. It takes a lot of shortcuts and leaves out story details which experienced readers would sorely miss. Had I known this earlier I would have looked for a better edition. Mea culpa—buyer beware!
