Q: is thi solid stainless steel?

It is not. 100% fact. And the chrome later can be worn through after 2 weeks of solid playing.

Q: Can you use this with an acoustic guitar? One like an orange wood?

I use mine on a lap steel. This slide works great on acoustic guitars, but you have to hold the guitar lap style, you may drop it on your foot if not careful. I am not sure what a orange wood is, sorry.
