There's tons of shavers out there that range from 20$-300$, as a professional licensed barber I've tried them all, the shaver is well under 100$. I use this shaver around 10 times a day at least, screen lasts months with proper care, never use a brush on the screen because the bristles can rip the screen. If u remove the foil and clean the blade and all the hair around the blade, oil and replace everything, this will prolong the life of the screen. The more dirt under the screen will cause a dry screen + friction will result in a hole. Always cut facial hair or any hair down to the lowest stubble like a 3 o'clock shadow before using this shaver. You wouldn't use a razor blade on long hair because it would rip and pull the hair. The lower the hair the easier it cuts and this wahl shaver will cause less bumps and ingrown hair. DON'T PUSH HARD, and constant hard pressed strokes in the same spot will heat the screen up and cause damage to screen which will eventually cause a hole and may cause irritation on the skin!!!!... This screen and blade are just fine.. There's no such thing as a perfect life lasting product but this screen and shaver are top of the line.

The screen and blades work great. Blades stay sharp a long time. The screen tends to wear out in about 6 weeks. It gets small tears in it in the middle by the bar that divides the halves of the screen. It doesn't seem to affect the quality of the shave initially, but as the tear progresses it can become an issue. Wahl replace my first screen and blades for free since the screen began to tear at about three weeks. I had already bought a replacement and am still using that one (over two months). The replacement they sent me is my back up when I need it. The shave overall is great. Much closer than a conventional razor or any other electric razor that I have used so far. Wahl customer service is excellent.
