Best one volume commentary.

I am overwhelmed at the amount of information. Clear, concise, and logical; easy to understand and follow. With the Bible it makes a formidable reference to understanding religious truth.

The new JBC is as good and useful as the old JBC and updated to boot!

This hefty volume has been so useful as I am working through the 19th Annotation of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius. Having little familiarity with scripture, no thanks to a largely pre Vatican II Catholic education, I pick up this volume for added background that is not contained in the footnotes of my New American Bible. Not a work to be read cover to cover. But I savor insights from the selections I choose to accompany my reading. Wouldn't be without it!

Very worldly. In Genesis says God is not omniscient. Heretical. Back to the store you go.

Seeing that Pope Francis provided the foreword, I was skeptical, and rightly so. There is heresy on practically every page. Please don't waste your time or money on this.

Very thin, cheap paper allows unacceptable show-through. You can see the print on the back of the page you're reading plus the print on the next page as well. This makes the book very hard to read. Other books with high page count avoid the problem by using high quality rag paper.

Having valued and used the previous edition for over 20 years. This new edition is an unsurpassed aid for Biblical study in the C21st.EXCELLENT VALUE
