The agony of Stalingrad, part two...
In the fall of 1942, German forces had reached the outskirts of the Soviet industrial city of Stalingrad, as part of a larger offensive to finally defeat the Soviet Union. The German Sixth Army was ordered to take Stalingrad itself for its propaganda value. The Germans were however unprepared for either urban combat or the Soviet willingness to expend lives to hold the city. This Osprey Campaign series book is the second of three on the subject. Author Robert Forczyk knows his Stalingrad; the narrative is clear and concise. The text is very nicely supported with period photographs and modern illustrations, maps and battle diagrams. The concluding analysis is authoritative. Very well recommended to students of the conflict.

One of the best World War II Campaign books on the Battle of Stalingrad I have read ever!
AWESOME to read that book! Truly, Robert Forczyk is the greatest writer of the Soviet-Nazi war campaigns I have known ever due to his impressive knowledge. That Stalingrad 1942-43 (2): The Fight for the City was well-thorough and well-presented with such excellent movement illustrations. Robert wrote the way how the brave German 6th Army soldiers had to crush the frontal stubborn Russian soldiers with different dates in detail. I really enjoyed reading every page of that wonderful book. Cheers!

Ideal Guide/introduction to Second Phase of Operation Blue.
I purchased Forczyk’s trilogy as a primer for another author’s definitive trilogy on the epic battle for Stalingrad. Forczyk’s easy to read dialogue, and easy to read/decipher upgraded maps allow the reader see the big picture, without all the minutiae.I’ve found Forczyk’s first two books to be very helpful in preparing me for the trilogy, actually 4 books of David Glantz’s work, in particular, with the northern flanks, and the battle for the factory district.I’d recommend Forczyk’s trilogy to any reader, who wants to read a simplified history of the Battle for Stalingrad, or as I have been using it as a refresher and preparation for reading, probably the most definitive collection on the Battle for Stalingrad.

Stalingrad Volume 2
Always love the Series Campaign by Osprey. Not long winded and gets to the point. Anyone know when Volume 3 will be published?
