Does the waterproif phone case work well, or should I buy one seperately?

It's cheap but it works fine. I was a river rafting guide for a decade, so I had a small Pelican box which I now attach securely to the deck of my board. I keep my wallet, phone and truck keys (fob) inside. Drawback to that is when I pull out my phone to use it (usually only to take photos), it is somewhat vulnerable even though it's supposed to be waterproof to 6 feet. I attach a brightly colored boat key foam floatie to my phone so if I drop it, it doesn't sink. Honestly, I would recommend a waterproof phone case AND a Pelican box. Phones are everything nowadays so I don't risk it!

Where is the carrying handle located to transport from car/home to board? Is it on the side or top? Is there one available to purchase?

It is on the top. I also purchased a strap that wraps around the board to help me carry.

I know it is answered up top-- i have the costco inflatable sup boards with bungee crosses. will it fit under?

Great question! This fits under most bungee rigging. You can also run your bungee through the 4 corners. Lastly, this now comes with 4 clips that you can attach to your D Rings or your bungee cord.

Do you know if sticky velcro can be used on the inside netting pocket to help keep it shut so valuables don't fall out when the cooler is opened?

Not sure why the picture doesn't show it but mine has a zipper on the inside and the outside
