Very effective sleep medicine for delayed sleep disorder
Of all of the liquid melatonin products that I have tried, the Benevolent brand is the best, not only in effectiveness, but also in taste. I have a CLOCK gene mutation that causes delayed sleep, meaning it takes several hours to fall asleep. I had been taking melatonin in pill form for a while and that wasn't helping, so a naturopathic doctor that I was seeing suggested taking it in liquid form. Surprisingly it did make a difference but I still had to do some tweaking with the timing of taking it. I learned that for someone who has a sleep delayed disorder, it's best to take melatonin a few hours earlier than indicated, so that it has time to work. It's worth experimenting to find what time taking it works best for you. I highly recommend Benevolent company products because they're high quality, and they're very effective, The bonus is they taste good too, which is especially helpful in getting children & picky adults to use the product.

Good Stuff, Great Price!
Until now I've been using Maxi-Health's Melatonin drops (before which I was using their Mellow-Chew Tablets), and although I really liked the product (it helped me go to sleep really easily) I was feeling the bite of the price. As I keep kosher, I basically assumed that I had no other options, until I came across this, which was about two dollars cheaper. The drops seem to be just as effective, and I'm able to sleep easily after taking this. The only differences that I noticed are the fact that this dropper doesn't fill up all of the way, no matter how much you squeeze the rubber part on top. This doesn't affect me too much; I just use the dropper twice instead of once, and I get the same amount. This (very slight) limitation brings to focus another slight concern that I have had with both brands- they state the dosage as "30 drops", when there is no way that I'm going to hold my head up while I patiently drip out thirty drops. Instead I just guesstimated it to be one dropper full, which has worked for me, but your mileage may vary. The other difference between the Benevolent Nourishment drops and the Maxi-Health drops is the fact that while Maxi-Health's dropper is plastic, Benvolent's dropper is glass, which makes me a little queasy about the dropper breaking and me not noticing in the dark room, and cutting my tongue on it. This hasn't happened, though (you can be sure I'll update this if it ever does), so I'm going to consider that a minor ding, and I'm still going to leave this at five stars.

I've bought this three times: it's a winner!
I've now been using this brand of liquid melatonin for about six months; this is my third purchase. I was trying to transition from a comfy 8 AM wakeup time to 5 AM, and having trouble going to sleep early enough for a 5 AM wakeup. I also had trouble waking in the night and not being able to go to sleep. Melatonin tablets didn't seem to help, and of course it's hard to adjust tablet dosage even if a good pill splitter. I had used liquid melatonin to help an older person with sleep issues, and it had helped her a lot. I remembered that she had liked the raspberry flavor, so I gave the Benevolent melatonin a try. It seemed expensive, but wow! It's been wonderful. Because it's sublingual, it acts rapidly, and because it's liquid, I can adjust the number of drops so my dosage gets me to sleep easily, but doesn't make me drowsy at wakeup time. I confess I tried a less expensive brand recently, but immediately ordered this one again because the flavor is just right for me. Just tasting it at bedtime helps me start to feel sleepy. I suppose not everyone would appeciate the sweetness and subtley of the flavor, but I love it. One bottle lasts me about 3 months, so it's well worth the price.

Works ok...
The melatonin has worked, but the 30 drops are a bit excessive in my opinion. Other than that, I have no complaints. The product works well and I feel rested the day after. I also like that I can measure how much to take depending on the amount of drops. I also think the flavor is decent. Be careful though, the first night I took it, I felt a bit nauseous. I'm not sure if this was due to some other factor but I would recommend starting at less than 30 drops.

I use this to treat my ferrets' adrenal disease.
I have 5 elderly ferrets, all between 4-5 years old. Four are neutered males and one is a spayed female. The female developed a swollen vulva, as well as hair loss last fall. At least 2 of the males also have developed hair loss. It was pretty evident that they had developed adrenal disease. After hearing about the use of melatonin supplements to treat adrenal disease in ferrets, I tried oral melatonin pills (crushed and put in baby food, approximately 1 mg/day/ferret), given 7-9 hours after sunrise (per the protocol), and hair growth resumed, and the female's vulva returned to normal. I gave the melatonin to all 5 ferrets (even the two not showing symptoms), as some research says it may be helpful in delaying or preventing the onset of adrenal disease in ferrets. The problem I encountered with the crushed melatonin pills, which had to be given 7-9 hours after sunrise in order to work, was compliance - it was hard to always give it at that specific time. I then considered how melatonin implants work. Rather than giving a bolus of melatonin at one specific time in the day, they slowly secrete melatonin throughout the day. I decided to try putting the melatonin in the ferrets' water bottles, so that they would get a little melatonin each time they took a drink during the day. First, I tried crushing the melatonin pills, but they would not go into solution. So, I tried Benevolent liquid melatonin 3mg/ml, and found that it goes into solution quite well. I put approximately 3 mg (30 drops) into their 16 ounce water bottle and shake well. I have been doing this for a few months now, and my ferrets' coats have come back in. The female's vulva is not swollen. Several of the ferrets have put on weight. The only side effect I have noticed is that the ferrets do seem to sleep a bit more - but, as they are elderly ferrets, sleeping more is probably not that unusual. Anyway, I have been very happy with the way this product has worked for my ferrets. It is definitely helping to relieve at least the symptoms of their adrenal disease, it is easy to use in their water, and it is not nearly as expensive as adrenal surgery or melatonin implants. **PLEASE NOTE - I AM NOT A VETERINARIAN AND AM NOT GIVING ANY VETERINARY ADVICE HERE - I AM MERELY SHARING MY OWN EXPERIENCE. A little pricey but works!
I bought this for my ADHD family. Particularly my 10 year old son and I have trouble falling asleep at night. I also have PTSD so my sleep difficulties can seem a bit immense. I wanted something safe and alcohol free for my children. This melatonin really works but only if I take it and go right to bed. I notice several minutes after taking a dose of this I begin to yawn and feel sleepy, I fall asleep if I go right in to bed, if I am still up to do anything else it passes and I have to take it again when I lay down for the night. My son took it one night and then edited a few pictures on his phone, he was not able to fall asleep afterwards. To me the flavor is extremely sweet but tolerable, my son likes the flavor. I like that it is safe for my family! My main concern is that we have gone through roughly half the bottle already! That’s approximately $1 a day for two of us to get sleepy at bedtime if taking only 3mg per day! I know there are other more cost effective brands out there but the alcohol free melatonin tends to be a bit pricey! The small window of time the product is effective is also a bit of a hassle. I am a single mom of two and I have to lay down in that few minute time period for this to be helpful. This might be due to the liquid form verses pills so I plan to do some research for future use. The flavor is a highly personal taste. This is a sweet raspberry flavor, I do not taste any vanilla. It doesn’t leave an aftertaste and goes away in a few minutes. I place the drops under the tongue for best absorption, the dropper fills up about halfway and apparently two of those is approximately 3mg, I have not found a need for more unless I was unable to go right to bed after taking a dose, in which case a whole new dose is necessary! Due to the price I will be looking for another melatonin for my family but this does work without any negative effects so we may choose to use it in the future.

Works well, easy to adjust dosage.
This is a very good product. I often like to use melatonin to help me sleep and these drops work better for me than the tablets. I also like being able to adjust the dose by choosing how many drops. While the bottle recommends 30 drops, I generally use much less. You'll have to see what the right amount is for you and then you can adjust up or down depending on the night.
