Amazing resource
This book was a fantastic resource for my math group. I love the example lessons, things to look for, etc. that help guide the instruction. Lesson planning is easy! Some of the activities take more prep than others, but this book improved my “game.”

Students love the games!
You can tell this is a book for teachers written by teachers. Each game or puzzle is clearly explained. The authors also include a passage with tips from teachers who have played the game with kids. They also include several options for assessing student learning. Even my most hard to please students enjoy these activities. SO GOOD!!

My 3rd graders love to play games and are very competitive
My 3rd graders love to play games and are very competitive. Every Friday we have Math Center day with different games, investigating good math sites with their chrome books or meeting with the teacher for extra reinforcement. The class really looks forward to Fridays.I find that kids learn more if the concept is in a form of a game and it’s fun! Five of a Kind is a truly wonderful game for all 3rd graders to play. It focuses on relating multiplication and division and dividing or finding missing factors up to 100. Every year we hear that kids need to know their facts. I played this game in my Friday Centers and the students loved it. They sat in a circle of 4 and got 5 cards each with different missing quotients and missing factors. They kept passing the cards to get 5 cards that have the same missing factor and they yell, “Five of a kind!” The students really got to see the connection between multiplication and division in a fun way. I feel this game has helped them learn their facts! Five of a Kind i s a great game that keeps the kids learning their facts in a fun way!Nancy Keegan3rd grade teacherGroton Dunstable Regional Schools

This book is a great resourch for teachers and coaches!!!
I love this book! WELL PLAYED Building Mathematical Thinking Through Number Games and Puzzles, is not your typical book of math games. Not only does this book include games and puzzles that focus on the major topics in mathematics that many of our students struggle with, but it provides instructional strategies and teaching tips for creating mathematical communities in the classroom, promotes collaborative problem-solving, math talk, and productive struggle-----all practices of mathematically proficient students! This is a great resource for teachers!WHEN are the books for grades K-2 and 6-8 coming out???

Printing error.
I am excited to read this book, and am hopeful to be able to allow students to work together and play games next year.I have read the first chapter, and began to read chapter 2 when I noticed pages are our off order. It goes from page 16 to page 49-56, back to page 25-48, then pages 17-24 and page 57-end seem to be correct so far.Disappointed that the book is messed up. It makes it hard to want to read the book.

Check page numbers before reading
I have contacted Amazon and they are amazing at always helping out but check page numbers before you begin reading and writing/highlighting as you can see my pages numbers are all mixed up. Still a super book so far just hard to read when Pages are all over the place
