Impressed with Grass Seed
Ordered 3kg of the Sprogs and Dogs pack to start a new section of the lawn and fill out the rest. Seed went down 1st November and these images are from 17th November. The circled areas in the image were completely bare prior to seeding after some garden works over the summer. Very happy with the fast results, and appearance of the lawn. The back section was also covered in leaves and was still able to grow. Would recommend and will use again in future.

Very green and tough. Keep safe from mice!
Decent, hard-wearing grass. Easy to spread. Grows well almost anywhere. The only places I had issues was on thin, stoned soil (unsurprisingly). I accidentally spread this the first day of drought of ‘25, and it still came through. Lost the first bag to mice. Keep somewhere safe.

Waiting patiently
Grass seed sown to "EXACT" instructions (as I'm not a gardener) 8 days later still no growth, Ill update next week, after 14 days. I live in southern Lincolnshire, with probably the best growing conditions in the country for arable. I could not rake all the seed under the soil but be assured the "VAST" majority is at about 1-2cm under the soil, I keep it moist "NOT" wet, I water it in the mornings, because I read about plants don't like damp roots at night ! As I mentioned I'll update next week Update day 18 The seed started to show at about the 11th day, the above photo is at 18 days after sewing, still a few little patches, but time will tell if the seed underneath comes through. Update day 41 Grass continues to grow well and has started to thicken up and out nicely. I started cutting it at about 8cm/3" inches high, needed cutting twice a week and I'm slowly reducing the height to about 5cm/2"inches. This is another section I seeded only 10 days ago, however I did use fertilizer on this section. (Purchased through Amazon) TOTAL LAWN (EAN 5065003543072) Pre-seed and Turf fertiliser | Fast Acting Fertiliser for New Lawn, Quick to Establish |Specifically for new seed establishment and pre-turfing. 1-2mm Granules - 100m2 I recommend this seed and I not a gardener by any stretch of the imagination. 21/02/2023 As you can see on both sections the grass has filled out and is growing nicely, as I said previously I live in South Lincolnshire, we have had a very mild winter not too much frost and only a few downpours, but the grass is doing really well and its not been down a year yet. I'm very pleased with the products I used. I am about to order some more pre-seed and grass seed for another section of the garden, so it cant be bad. thanks for your time and my rambling. 16/05/23 One year in and I'm extremely pleased with the lawn, its still gaining thickness and has spread out to cover smaller patches, cant recommend it enough, slightly different shade than my original lawn, but you cant have everything. All in all very happy.

Grass Seed so Good - it could probably grow grass on the moon!
I had the worst ever lawn. Between a dry summer and a female dog who wees on the lawn, it was all brown or bare patches. Awful! But this grass seed is AMAZING! I was a bit disappointed after day 5 and only a few little delicate bits of grass showed through but WOW- 2 WEEKS LATER it all looks lush! I watched a YouTube video by Alan Titchmarch to learn how best to plant the seeds. First, I removed some of the dead grass and some bad soil. Then i put some nice topsoil over that. I made sure the soil was level with the surrounding grass and levelled it down flat by standing on a board. Then i fluffed the soil up a bit so the seed would have somewhere to sit. I sprinkled the seed into the topsoil, not too sparse, but a decent coverage. I gently kind of raked it in with a hand tool claw thing...just gently, then sprinkled a thin layer of fine multi purpose compost so the birds wouldn't bother it too much. To be on the safe side, i sprinkled a tiny bit more seed in top! I watered it morning and evening. As I say, it looked like nothing was going to happen for about 5 days to a week but suddenly...NEW STRONG GRASS! It's only been 3 weeks and I have grass! I've even mowed the lawn and it lived! As for the dog, after she has a wee, I dilute her wee with about a litre of water from the watering can. I hope you like my before and after photos!

Advice for clay soil
So after a wet winter on a shady clay lawn, it was basically a mud patch. We also have an abundance of earthworms which create masses as casts (piles of mud) which smother the grass and kills it. I bought this as it’s advertised as a sturdier variety. The problem with clay is it dries quickly in hot weather and drowns in wet weather. After much trial and error here are some top tips for sowing on clay soil lawns: 1. Wait until it’s warm. I did the first batch in March this year and it was just too cold, germination was slow and about 50% success. You’ll see other reviews from this time say similar. Wait until April or until it’s consistently 8 degrees or above at night. 2. Mix with compost before scattering (3 or 4 times as much soil as seed) for a few reasons. First it’s really hard to rake clay soil and you’ll end up with seed just lying on top or covered with thick dense soil. Mixing first helps to evenly distribute the seed, it gives the seed a nice loose soil to root into first. Compost retains water better and stops the seed from drying out. It’s more nutrient dense than clay soil so gives the seed a little boost. 3. Wait for consistently damp weather or else water daily for at least the first 2 weeks. If it’s particularly hot and dry water twice a day or else invest in a sprinkler. Clay dries very quickly and the germinated seed will die if it dries out. The durability of the seed has yet to be shown, I’ll wait a whole year to comment on that. I’m also going to leave it long over winter and core the soil for drainage as I’ve read that helps with survival in clay over winter. To be continued!

Well worth the money.
Germinates well in 10-14 days. Grows quickly and produces a good cover.
