Fantastic, if somewhat expensive piece of kit.
This had been working brilliantly with my Sony A7iv for a month of intensive use. Indeed, after the hard use its been put through on a 1 month voyage around the southwestern USA, much of it on foot, I can safely declare that this is one of the best camera accessories I’ve purchased in my near 50 years of photography. Back in the old days, when my shoulders worked, such an item would have been a luxury due to its price. Today, what with age and several injuries, it is essential. In fact I will be buying the larger sized plate that i hope will distribute the weight more broadly and will use this one on my backpack. At over $50 its very expensive for what it is, but still, solid, secure and for me, worth the cost. Try it and you will never use a shoulder strap again. By the way, I still attach my short shoulder strap to a carabiner and attach the carabiner to my light weight over the shoulder bag as extra security, that way in the unlikely event of my dropping the camera it is still tethered to me. But, except when hiking or other vigorous activity, I wouldn’t hesitate to use this without the added security. The attachment is very secure. Use a stout belt. Mine is a nylon web tactical belt about 5cm wide and it works superbly as a combo. Please note, you can set this device so it is in quick release mode or locked. In quick release it is, in fact, quick. You can get the camera to your eye as quickly as with a neck strap or one of those fancy over the shoulder straps (I have both) without the camera and lens causing neck pain. In locked mode, you need to push a lever to unlock, and I haven’t been able to figure out how to do this quickly with one hand, hence my use of strap and carabiner for extra security. Finally, just so you know, I use my camera with the Tamron 28-200 almost all the time (great lens) and despite its size I have had no real problems although this set up does seem to cause the focus ring to turn as it rubs against my pants as I walk. I don’t think, and sure hope, this won’t cause lens problems in the future, but so far, so good. If anything changes I will let you know.

Use it almost every time I do photography
Awesome camera holster. Feels very solid, and locks onto backpack straps tight! I use this thing all the time when I am hiking to have my camera at the ready. I also like that you can lock the camera in or just let it hang with gravity. Also the ability use it as a belt clip is a great addition. This is a great tool that has a great build quality and I use almost every time I go out take pictures. Makes an amateur photographer like me feel like a real professional!

Great quality, but pricey to match
I just got this today (Sept 20, 2024). The shipping was very fast, which was nice. Slapped this on my Canon Eos Rebel t7, and it fits nearly perfectly. I could remove one of the screws at the front of the mount, but it's only ever so slightly off, and doesn't bother me. But it's great to have the option. The utility is great. After seeing my dad and his camera holster (albeit custom rigged out of spare parts) I knew I needed one too. Combine this with a quick release monopod/tripod mount, and I'm all the way ready for a day of snapping pics. The option to switch between bag mount and belt mount is nice. I don't see myself using the belt clip often, but it's a nice feature to have. The plastic that most of the hardware is molded out of seems pretty sturdy. I'm not worried about the quality or it's ability to hold the weight of my camera. For instance, the system that clamps onto a bag strap is pretty stiff when trying to snap on or off, which is a great problem to have. High wear parts, like where the hook rests in the holster are reinforced with metal to prevent wear on the plastic, too. Overall, I'd say if you're looking for a holster to free up your hands, this is the best one money can buy. That comes with a high price, but you get what you pay for.

Worth it
The "holster" was great. I used it on a trip to Japan. It kept my camera in reach and out of the way when I required two hands. It also allowed me to grab a lens from my bag (that rotates from back to front, like a sling). I repositioned it a few times to set the right comfort for me on the bag strap. I like the clip release that allows me to leave the main part on the bag strap, and still clip the "adapter" to my belt. So I can quickly leave the bag and walk out the door with the clip on my belt to "holster" the camera. I like the small click to keep the camera from locking when I want frequently access but be careful don't bend down with it unlocked. You camera will fall. But in the locked position....it was great. You can do jumping Jack's with it locked and it won't fall. It held a good amount of weight. I have an ar7iii with a 70 -200 mm g master, plus an extra grip with two batteries. Which is heavy. But it held it fine. Not sure if I needed the paying below to strap in the lens. I wish I could separate the two when I want. Over all good product. It's a bit expensive but for my use it was worth it. Considering buying a second for convenience.

Great Tool for the Photographer or Videographers
I find this immensely more convenient and comfortable than trying to log a camera and lens around using a neck strap. It is really easy to use and very well made. I looked at a couple of other products like this but they had seemed to have flaws like thumbscrews that would not stay tightened. This clips over your belt, so as long your belt is securely buckled, I think there's very little chance of this coming off. It is very well made and there is a funnel-like system that guides your camera into the locking mechanism. Once there you can hear it securely lock into place. I saw some reviewers complained about the price, but for the comfort, convenience and quality of craftsmanship I think it's a very fair deal. Definitely recommend this for anyone who does not want to log camera around on their neck.

I bought this holster after seeing a wedding photographer using it at a family wedding. The standard neck strap included with most cameras have never felt like the best solution, with the camera getting in the way of whatever event I was at. This Spider X is a much better way to carry around smaller cameras, such as APS-C DSLRs and mirrorless models. I've made use of this with the Canon 90D and the Canon M6 Mark II with no problems, even with larger lenses such as the 18-135mm EF-S and the 24-105mm EF. It leaves your cameras accessible when required, but generally out of the way so on a day out or at an event you don't need to worry about it being an inconvenience to lug around. The build quality is exceptional and even after using it for multiple years now it still feels as solid as the day I first used it. I've actually bought two, one for each camera and can confirm that you can use both at the same time with a strong enough belt to support it! I use elasticated fabric belts rather than leather, as the infinite adjustability works really well to keep any mounted cameras secure. All in all, if you're after a significantly better solution for carrying your camera around, you really shouldn't look any further - the Spider X holster is well worth the price and is easy to recommend!
