Notes from Disappearing Lake: The River Journals of Robert Sund
W**E
The Life of a Poet on the Skagit Estuary
Living for the seasons of many years in a self-made shack perched over the fluxing Skagit River estuary, Robert paid attention. He painted, wrote poetry, entertained guests, studied the works of Buddhist poets, coped with mice, hunted firewood in his dory, rowed to local celebrations with his autoharp, and recorded much of this in "thin Chinese notebooks, each with only twenty-six pages of near-weightless paper". Here are select entries from those notebooks - glimpses into experience over water, under stars, with herons, swallows, and neighbors. Discover both a special place and a special mind.
