Golden Care Teak Instant Grey

I wasn't sure if the marketing talk for this product would match up to reality but I took a risk, and was very pleased to see the reviews were true! This teak furniture has been out in the elements for ten years with zero maintenance from me. Then we had them power-washed - they came up so nicely but looked too 'new' - we wanted a driftwood look to go with the grey deck, and that's exactly what this stuff did. Only word of warning is that it takes a LOT more of this stuff than you expect. The company give no guidance on coverage area, so I read the other reviews and bought 4x 1L bottles for 2 benches, 2 seats, 1 large table and 1 coffee table. Wasn't even close - needed another 3x 1L bottles to finish the job (one coat!). The freshly cleaned wood sucks it up like a sponge. I'm sure a second coat wouldn't need as much but do yourself a fav and buy extra. It's annoying they don't sell this stain in 1G or larger (like they do their other products) but end of the day, not a big deal.

My teak table was very worn and had that silver patina look which I liked, but the table felt rough and needed to be cleaned. I power washed it and man did it look great, but it wasn’t my style. I applied this product and OMG it looked awesome. I then applied the Golden Care shield and it looks and feels like a brand new table. Very happy with this product. If you’re going for that silver patina look, but want the feel and look of a new table, get this plus the shield and it’s good as new!

I see a number of great reviews for this, but from what I can tell from a test patch under my table top, this is nothing more than a semi-transparent stain ... which can be purchased from any hardware store for a significantly lower price. I don't see any magical teak healing properties.

This photo shows before and after just one coat! I will be doing a second coat for more coverage. I needed to transform a teak cafe set from brown to grey to match my other patio furniture. I’m very pleased. Also, because this is water based, cleanup is super easy.

I used this product on new teak and was very disappointed. It did not stain to a gray but just toned down the orange hue a bit. A watered down gray paint might have been a better choice.
