Great Brush for a Great Price.
I have fine, mostly straight hair, with very little body. I always use a round boar bristle brush to style my hair when I do a blow-out, but this one is much better than any other boar bristle brushes I've found. It really picks up and hold my hair so I can get more body in it. It doesn't snag my hair, and that's very important since my hair can be easily damaged, even though it is not chemically treated. I was also impressed by the price, since it is so much better than some of my more expensive brushes. Overall, it's just a great brush for a great price. I would recommend this, and I would purchase this again.

Very soft and effective! + Loose bristles
This brush works wonderfully on both wet and dry hair! Glides right through without pulling. It is very easy to maneuver any way you like, so that you can create any hairstyle. The only complaint I have is that the first time I used this brush, at least 30 bristles fell out and created a huge mess! Since that first use, the fall-out has been much less (maybe 1 or 2 bristles at a time). Not a huge deal!

Good but......
I had one from ulta that I lost. Loved it, good for smooth blow drying and isn't harsh on my hair. The angle also helps me smooth out flyaways when I'm doing a ponytail or other styles. The handle isn't as soft as my last one, and a few bristles fell out of this one too, so I took off a star for that. I honestly am not 100% sure it's the same as from ulta, or a knockoff. If it keeps shedding I'll update my review.

Disappointed, but using it nonetheless
I've been lovingly referred to as a, "hair junkie." Even started a support group with a dynamic online friend suffering from the same affliction. Unfortunately, she's been notably absent from recent meetings due to scheduling conflicts (she said she was too busy doing her hair - her words, not mine). I've since invited several other reviewers who have answered my multiple questions posted on various hair brush product pages with virtually no response. At least I own my addiction to hair accoutrements. I've lusted over the Marilyn Tuxedo brush for years, but even I draw the line at a fifty dollar finishing brush. OK, that's a lie. I do have a Mason Pearson Junior, but at least that is used several times a day as opposed to a finishing brush that's really only meant for the last few minutes of a blow out. Why this particular brush? Well, it's claimed to be more ergonomic for longer hair. Upon further investigation of that statement on Marilyn's own site, I learned that it is because this brush is designed to be used differently than the typical barrel brush in that the stylist is not meant to continuously roll the brush while advancing down each section of long hair. Rather, due to the hourglass shape coupled with the angle at which the bristles meet the barrel, this brush was designed to produce the same voluminous result without the wrist movement; directions say that the brush will hold the hair around its barrel and glide through each section of hair without any rotation at all. This was enlightening to me, because I had wondered how a thing that requires such wrist action (and hence strain) could ever be, "ergonomic." The engineers simply removed the necessity for the straining movement. Brilliant! For at least a few years now, I've been watching this brush on Amazon. When the price dropped down under 50% of the MSRP (on Marilyn's own website) a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't pass it up. The brush that arrived has the right insignia on the handle, and I have no reason to believe that it is not authentic. That said, I am surprised at the brush's apparent lack of quality. The barrel, while hardwood, is actually hollow. That's great, because it makes the brush lighter, but the end has no cap. While placement of a cap could create a groove to catch and yank out strands (much like the little metal rings at the junction of most barrels to their handles do), I'd at least expect a smoothly polished end with a nice hand. Not so. In fact, the black paint (which I believe is a ceramic coating of some sort, but looks like spray paint) doesn't continue very far into the brush's core, leaving and unfinished and rough end to the brush. It's probably some fancy ceramic coating applied by airbrush or something equally as posh, but particularly the way the coating fades (about an inch inside the barrel) creates the appearance of canned spray paint. While the surface of the end of the brush isn't sanded, the paint does protect the hand from a really abrasive finish. It's ugly and doesn't feel nice. OK, I know what you're thinking. How often do you grab that end of a barrel brush? Almost never, especially with the functional design elements touted with this brush. But for a brush that retails at such a lofty price, I expect more. Furthermore, this is not the fat barreled brush I'd expected. 3 1/2 inches is the bristle-to-bristle diameter. The wooden barrel is a mere 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Bristles are 1/2 inch long, adding the other inch to it's stated diameter. I don't think barrel brushes are normally measured this way, either. Usually the diameter refers to the bare barrel. Fortunately, with the method suggested to employ this brush (sans twirl, I mean), the really fat barrel is apparently unnecessary, because though I have waist-length hair, this brush imparts plenty of volume and body. Certainly it produces a result at least as good as that achieved with my Mega brush that's much fatter (3 1/2 inch barrel exclusive of bristles). Finally, it began shedding bristles upon its first use. Now this brush is bushy, with so many bristles that it would have to lose a whole lot of them before it would show. At first I thought it would stop shedding after the first few uses. No such luck there. I've used it eight times so far, and I'm still finding 5-7 bristles in my sink and on the counter after using it. Again, no effect on the appearance or function thus far. So, I'm a little disappointed in the brush I coveted for so long. Perhaps I idolized it to some degree, putting it on such a high pedestal that the real brush really never could compare to my image of it. But it does have an unpolished end, I can see where the coating ends inside the hollow barrel, I see no end in sight to the bristle shedding, and it's much smaller in diameter than I expected. Despite all of these things, though, I'm still reaching for it every time I'm finishing a blow out. That's because all the claims are true. The angled bristles really do provide more root lift than I've ever gotten in the past. Further, I get a better result without all the twirling on the way down (if you have long hair and you ever blow it out straight, you know what I mean). My hand and wrist are far less tired with this brush and my style is prettier when I'm finished 'finishing' with this brush. Basically easier to use and better results trump the quality control issues on this one. That's why, though disappointed, I probably won't stop using it for each and every blow out. I'd only recommend it to those who, unlike me, have not been idolizing this brand for years, because the disappointment may be too harsh. So, if you've only just learned of the Marilyn Tuxedo Brush, go for it, particularly at this price point.

Underperforming
Brush handle was broken inside had to glue it.. and the top of the brush was sticky and I had to clean it off with nail polish remover. It took a while to get it in stock so keep and try it

I love this round brush!
This brush grips hair without scraping your scalp like the wire round brushes do. Smooths hair and fly aways. Very easy to use. Leaves my hair looking top notch!

My favorite brush!
Have used it for years, but unable to find it in stores. Was very happy to find it on Amazon. The boar bristles provide a bit of a scalp massage, but they're not so stiff they damage hair. Perfect styling tool for blow drying and great for that before bed hair brushing!
