What a difference!
Perfect fit for my boat! I had sticky and extremely stiff steering, it was so difficult to turn that I thought I was going to break the fiberglass console from the torque. Now, I can turn the wheel with one finger - on land! The cable appears to be a direct OEM replacement, the rack end came with fresh grease and the motor end had the perfect amount of lube as well. I haven't tested it in the water yet because it's been too cold and windy (33f and 40mph gusts on lake michigan), but I'm sure it'll feel like a brand new boat once I can take it out!

Worked out great
Replaced my worn out cable on my I/O mercruiser stern drive. Needed to replace the helm and tilt steering mechanism as well, because the new style rack is wider than the old one (1993 vintage). After multiple returns I finally got it right. I ended up ordering a cable that was 1ft shorter for some reason. The old length (15’) just wouldn’t fit in my boat. Ended up ordering a 14’ and it fit perfect.

Rack and pinion steering for Mercury Outboard
Excellent quality. Read the manufacturer’s instructions on determining correct length. They are slightly different than the generic instructions. I was quickly refunded cost of “short” cable and the correct one was rapidly shipped to me

I can steer again.
Got this cable for a replacement on my 18ft bass boat. Was the same as my old one new company same product I think. Hardest part was routing through the hull. Bolted right back up and had me steering with much less effort. Only thing I miss was the old cable allowed me to let go of the wheel as it would hold it in place... I was reminded quickly that a properly functioning cable does not give you this luxury. But if you have an old Teleflex brand cable this is the same thing.

Perfect Teleflex replacement. Pretty easy job.
Not all that hard to install. Replaced a 1998 Teleflex with this one (Teleflex and SeaStar are same company now), and WOW what an improvement! Hardest part with my application, I had to lift motor off transom to swap cables (not enough room to remove motor end solid slide shaft piece), but old one came right out, and this one slipped right in. Pretty simple project overall, and now kids can steer boat, and you dont need to be a weightlifter to manhandle the steering. Shoulda done this a decade ago! Price was right too. Called all over town trying to get one, everyone outta stock, and one, 100miles away wanted nearly double what I paid for this one.

This was the same brand of product that came with the boat. Worked and fit perfectly.

I was initially confused by Teleflex & SeaStar products, believing SeaStar were copies. In fact they are the same company and same products but in Canada known as SeaStar. I bought the cable for a Tracker ProV16 with a Mercury 40hp since the original had seized right up. The old cable was a 14 foot but it was installed with 2 small radius bends so I experimented and found there was room to put in a 13 foot cable with larger radius bends. In addition I trimmed back a few inches of the flotation foam near where the cable exited the hull at the outboard end to smooth out a small bend there. The result was better than when the boat was new. You can turn the wheel with one finger now, very smooth operation.
