Yes, there is a screw on the scissors, and I imagine that it's purpose is to readjust the scissors, either to tighten or loosen the cut. I have purchased several pairs of Westcott Scissors over the years, for home as well as business use, and have never had a problem. Bottom line: I love Westcott Scissors and in my opinion you can't go wrong w/giving them a chance!

Are these good for cutting poultry?
