For the money, top notch
This bike repair stand is awesome. Yes, it has plastic parts. It also does not cost $200. I mounted a 1981 high tensile steel Raleigh on this stand, the bike must weigh above 27 pounds with the back rack on it...no problem. It is SO NICE to have the bike secured while trying to work on it. So much better than the homemade stand we had earlier this summer. Can't speak to the problems detailed by others...there is plenty of pedal clearance the way ours is set up, plenty secure, plenty convenient. 5 stars.

Functional, but minor shortcomings that can be worked around.
The stand works well. My issue, a minor one is that the clamp is a relatively soft plastic and the interlocking teach that hold the bicycle in place are already showing a little ware. That said, the price is great, therefore the value is good. Length of the neck is a little short, requiring the bike to be close to the mounting surface. Pedals and the sort need to be worked around. The clamp works well on my bike, but it is quite light. May be challenged by a heavier frame. I’m quite happy overall with the purchase.

Holds bike in place better than your girlfriend
I only did one small repair with this clamp so far and here are my findings. The clamp weighs 1877 grams. Square base which is 11.5 by 11.5cm (4.5 x 4.5") is made of metal. The two tubes that are nicely welded together in T shape are made of metal too. I think it is aluminium. Steel would be heavier. The clamp itself is made of solid-looking plastic. Jaws of the clamp have rubber on them to hold bike better without scratching it.Dimensions of the thing are: 34cm (13.5") by 27cm (10.5"). Now, distance between the edge of the base and the bike's tube mounted in this clamp is only 13cm (5 and 1/8"). That is if the clamp would be mounted on the edge of the bench top in the position as the clamp is photographed here. That would not leave space for pedals to turn. But if you would mount it on the bench turned 90 degree counter-clockwise (as to the position on the picture), so the base is vertical, then you would get a clearance. I hope I explained it well enough and you can picture those positions. I have never add my pictures to the Amazon gallery but will try this time. If I am successful you should be able to see what I mean.BTW, those things should really be explained by the manufacturer or seller. But its ok, BikeHand, just gimme a dollar off every sold unit and we call it even ;-)

Great for $50
I used this over the weekend to work on a few bike. It worked great. I did notice that it didn't tighten up real tight but taking the handel off and turning the allen screw behind it allowed the teeth to bind tightly. I used it to hold the bikes by the seat post, the down post, and the cross bar all three positions were held secure. Wish I would have bought something like this years ago. It was easy to use even with the bike in one hand and adjusting the opening with the other.

Doesn't work well
My work bench has shelves under it. The arm on the bike hand is so short that when my bike is mounted the pedals can't turn because they hit the shelves. Nice idea, but a repair arm for a workbench needs to be longer. I can't do a tune if I can't turn the pedals and it's kind of a pain to remove a pedal every time I want to work on my bike.

A workbench is better
Do not purchase, step up and get a Park bench unit or a proper rotating work bench. I have used this product for almost a year with mixed results. I had to build a platform to get it far enough away from my work bench, and high enough to keep one tire off the deck where I do my bicycle work.I can not lift the bicycle and tighten the holder for the seat post if I have a under seat bag. I always need to remove the under seat bag to grasps the seat post, and have access to the lever. Now with 2 carbon frame bicycles, that have tear drop shaped seat posts I can now not use this unit, as I do not trust carbon top tube in the so so rubber covered vice. Also I have not taken the unit apart to see if i can modify or fix the unit, but the rotating lock is no longer holding the weight of an 18 pound bicycle to turn it at the angle I always seem to want...My next purchase will be a rotating work bench similar to the Tacx shown in this video or Park PRS20, that allows better access to the bicycle and not worry about a thin top tubes & odd shaped carbon seat post/tube..[...]

fit, finish and function awesome for bikes; usable for bows with some additions
bought it to use as a bow vise for working on compound bows. functionally, the stand is perfect. solid, positive locks and stable. where it fell short was it's alignment to the vertical and horizontal. when the jaws are in a horizontal position, they are actually 9 degrees off for my purpose. i came up with an adjustable mount to correct. when rotating the jaws, alignment to plumb is consistent. if this rack were to be square and true, it would be perfect for an archery application.
