This is a GREAT resource for learning ASL! Well written, easy to read, with great illustrations of the signs! My Heart Glows is an illustrated children’s book about Alice Cogswell. Another great book!

I had a sign language class in college and at my job there are some folks who are deaf. It would be nice to be able to communicate with them when I get more practice in. I took sign language in college, and it was fun, this book reminded me of the alphabet spelling and some of the signs. They did change the letter P from when I learned it, but it helps me to remember what I had learned all those years ago and if any new signs have come about. This book gives you a website where you can go to practice signing with another person and it gives you a sign that you must identify. It's a great tool, I highly recommend.

This book is very comprehensive. The only problem is that it is difficult, if possible at all, to learn signs correctly from those illustrations drawn in the book. The online materials are all about quizzes and exams but not for sign illustrations in the book. What I do is to go to Youtube to search for the demonstration of each sign. So it would be great if all sign illustrations are demonstrated online on Barron's book website .

I like how this books not only illustrates so many signs but that it also stresses ASL syntax. While many books just show the words and hearing people then use for signed English. Learning the grammatical structure of the language is as equally as important as learning the semantics. And the emphasis that ASL is not just about what the hands are doing but about the facial expression and body posturing as well.

It is very helpful to autostudy, many exercises to practice

This is as the book says a comprehensive guide to learning ASL. I originally bought the book so i could learn the basics of ASL, and so far it has been an amazing tool. It's set up like a course, and more than that it provides links for videos so you can put your new skills in practice. Now i have been able to do some basic sign with a Deaf customer that comes to my work place often. The look of excitement that I'm learning has made this one of my favorite purchases I've made this year. I highly recommend this product. I don't have anything negative to say aside from the pages feel thin and fragile, however the texture is perfect to pencil in your own notes.

Completed the book and supporting videos and quizzes related to each chapter. Had to seek out YouTube videos to demonstrate some signs, as I couldn't understand the drawings and their attempts to explain hand motion, but glad I got the book. It was helpful.

This book is insightful and easy to use and understand, it shares a brief history of ASL.

Pages all cut up. So disappointed. I hope I can get a partial refund. Package was perfectly fine so it must have been damaged before packaging.
